Welcome to Eater canbear.Sorry for the money you have lost,but yes this is a scam.Don't you find it in the least bit odd that someone who has had money to go to nursing school,and can afford an internet connection suddenly has no money to eat?She can also afford an international telephone call.Funny how the uncle just stopped sending money.Fortunate you were there to pick up the slack.

No problem, just do some checking and get confirmation before you send another penny.

My personal belief is once you check you will never send another penny.

Real embassies are probably the best independent source of information on immigration law. Just look up the embassy information yourself with google or other search engine.

I know people who have helped people immigrate, and it was the embassies that they dealt with.

Regarding webcam - unfortunately that is very easily faked. I was trying to find the scamwarners thread that has a good explanation of how it's done, but wasn't successful, so here's a short description. The scammers use photos and video footage that they steal from the internet, often of porn stars, because there's a lot of different photos etc. of the same person in different settings. The webcam trick is just video put together on a loop. It's very likely that if you were talking to " Erica" and spontaneously asked her to do something, like "put your hands in front of your face and say Peek-a-boo", "she" would not be able to do that. Suddenly there would be webcam problems, the connection would be lost or whatever.

Your instincts are telling you that something is wrong. That's because something is wrong. Trust your instincts.
