After calling the lad's bluff about using 3rd-party WU - and not a "private" bank - to transfer a fee in order to get a loan, and my questioning his seriousness about the business, he eventually cracked and sent me what looks to be genuine bank account information.

I've read the stickies and Eater University topics about sending bank information to alan, however I want to be certain that I'm doing it right.

Can anyone offer some up-to-date advice on the modalities on sending alan fraudulent bank information?

Thanks Jim for the quick response, but I already read that sticky (a few times, in fact). A few questions answered may be all I need before I'll go ahead and report the account.

1. When sending alan the e-mail header, do I edit out my baiting e-mail address?

2. Do I create a new e-mail address to send the info to alan?

Reason being, I don't want to get involved with law enforcement (even though I'm the one helping to prevent crime here), by them tracing the email addresses back to me.

1. yes, it's best if you leave your adress out

2. no, you don't need a new email account to send the info to alan

don't worry about that, it's never happened before

always make sure you include enough evidence, that email you sent may not be enough, look for those were he tells you things a scammer would say

That is not my e-mail address, no. I don't currently have a Gmail address.

The e-mail message in question from the lad, which contains the actual bank account information, also has a message from the lad saying about sending the fee before the loan can be released. That should be evidence enough, because that is not legal practice.

I sent it from my baiting e-mail account, though in the e-mail header I sent, I removed the email address that would suggest it was the baiting address. Only speculation on the grounds that it's from the same provider would give any clue, but again it's speculation.

I would never post a fellow baiter's e-mail address. And if my own somehow becomes compromised, I can start afresh with a new e-mail account as I will make note of the e-mail addresses of current baits.

The info has been sent. Can I now add a piggy to my sig, or do I wait for some kind of confirmation that the account is fraudulent, and has been closed?

OK then, Jim. Piggy added and hopefully it will show up in my sig now.

Now, on Monday (because my character doesn't work weekends, and neither do a lot of lads), I'll probably stall another day or two before telling the lad the payment is not "going through" and to send me another bank account. He seems fairly hooked, as he's insistent about me sending the payment "IMMEDIATELY".

Plus, if I've gotten past the Western Union hurdle, I could be getting somewhere with this one. This could be my first decent bait.

^^ that's what you should do, tell them you went to the bank on friday, let them suffer trough the whole weekend, they'll probably check their bank account a million times and will send you tons of emails asking for the transfer slip, on monday tell them that the account is not working and demand a new one

I'll try to get at least 1 more bank account from this guy. Not bad so far, for a beginner anyway. I don't think I've been in contact with him 2 weeks yet.

I have a few baiting aliases (none of which has any resemblance to my real name) and a reporting alias (which is different from my real name and from my baiting names). The reporting alias now has two addresses because I had trouble with Rambler. I use the same alias for pigs and fake sites.

I snip my baiting name from emails I forward to Alan, but in the most recent I had to send a jpeg as evidence, and I left the name in the jpeg.

Contacted the lad saying the bank-to-bank payment "would not go through".

Without hesitation he sent me a new bank account, and I immediately forwarded the details to alan. However, the lad only sent the following information in the format that alan requires.

ACCOUNT HOLDER NAME: Yes
BANK NAME: Yes
BANK ADDRESS: Yes
BANK SWIFT CODE: No
SORT CODE: No
ACCOUNT NUMBER: Yes
IBAN CODE OF THE BANK: No

So basically no SWIFT/BIC code or IBAN.

He did however send a 9-digit "routing" number, which I sent to alan. Not sure if this will suffice, or whether or not I'll have to coax more details out of the scammer. I'm sure alan will be in touch if he needs more. But still, I don't feel as if I've earned my second pig yet. Sad

A 9-digit routing code is used in the US. If the bank is in the US, the 9-digit routing code and the 12-digit account number are sufficient to identify the account.

The chemical lad ran the IBAN and account number together and provided a SWIFT code. I sent them to Alan, figuring he knows how many digits are in a Spanish account number.

If you get more than one account from the same lad then Alan likes you to link the original & subsequent one(s) together when reporting them to him as it adds more continuity to the investigation.

I have had a few x4's & one x5 from lads which makes for long emails to him but it keeps things together & saves him time piecing different emails together.
