Hello All:

First time poster - need examples of scams from Cote d'Ivoire to show a person who is about to be scammed by someone offering him "a great investment opportunity in the Ivory Coast".

As a longtime viewer of 419eater.com I understand what is going on but the intended target is very naive. I would like several examples of letters to show him but could not figure out how to the search the letters archive by terms.

Thank you.

Chris

This may be a shorter list than you want. LOL

EDIT: Link did not work! Do a search with "Cote d'Ivoire". About 26 pages in the results.

This should help - http://forum.419eater.com/forum/search.php

One of the top and most recent results is from the 'surplus emails' thread, is about the Ivory Coast.

Hi Chris.

The Ivory Coast is a very popular location for scammers. It's really only superceded by Nigeria and perhaps Ghana. If your friend has a problem believing you, you're welcome to give me the details of the scam and have him contact me so I can walk him through it or you can try to get him to visit our sister site - www.scamwarners.com.

There, he'll find all the advice and information that he needs to confirm that it's a scam.

This bait is in Spanish, but the lad used a computer to translate. The supposedly Ivorian banker did not understand French. French, but not Spanish, is an official language there.

A quick, and very effective way to convince your friend it's a scam is to simply ask him or her to Google the name of the "investor", and their e-mail address. They'll soon realise so many other people have been offered the chance of a great investment opportunity in Côte d'Ivoire, and hopefully that should be sufficient evidence that something isn't quite right.

scamwarners.com may be a good resource for a naive friend, or even for you if you're trying to help a naive friend.

So many people vilify naive and intellectually challenged people unfairly. (e.g. "If they are stupid enough to fall for it, it's their own damned fault.")
I know so many loving and genuine people who are also naive and intellectually challenged. Each one of them is worth a hundred jaded cynics like me. We have to do what we can to protect them.

I just dropped some scam emails ( from Cote d'Ivoire) off in the surplus section, and scamwarners easier today . I and others have gotten quite a few of them,

I o agree that warner and eater are great resources.

An investment opportunity? As with anything he should ONLY get involved with legitimate offers. Your countries embassy can help validate if its legitimate or not. But even an embassy OK might not be enough. Some scammers are that clever.

A victim scammers, that is not often mentioned are the honest people of Western African countries.

Scams desecrate the image of these countries and its people.

A successful criminal enterprise can inflate the costs of things, and excess cash also causes more corruption in government bodies and agencies.

I wish the best for you both.
