Laughing
It started on sept 25, as with all of you due to an ad on a dating forum. The "name" was Chloe Anderson, age 30, living in my country but on a trip to Nigeria.
Since I am so terribly charming Laughing she hooked up on my profile. We soon started to correspond through my hotmail address.
My first question was
Quote:
are you aware of the difference in age? doesn't it represent a problem for you?
For which the polite answer was that it didn't matter. I started immediately to get suspicious when the dating site sent me a message that the person has been banned from the forum due to abuse of the terms and conditions. I tried to ask the web administartion what that meant, but they didn't bother to answer (Shame on them!!!).
So I asked "her" what is going on, and received no answer about that, instead the things started to get heated-up, declarations of true love made me blush, and I don't know why I am so lucky, uggly me.
I tried to source the e-mail address and it turned out to be an old one belonging to an irish girl in Auckland, Australia.
Now "she" starts to ask for personal details, which I avoided them with no comment.
At this stage I started to look in the net about Nigerian scams, arrived to this site, and started to read. As I got deeper into it I understood the wider picture and liked the idea of the pay-back.
The next message was full of info why she is in Nigeria:

"On the right side i think i should have no hidden secret.. it's necessary you should know about my mission here in Nigeria so it can ring to your ear about my pursue and mission in Nigeria.. well, when i was still at teen before i lost my parent...my father use to work with a westafrica security oil company based in Nigeria and he own buildings and properties here during his service at work...But after he died the property was left abandoned for 10yrs without being occupied...
August 23rd 2008 the property was sold by the Nigeria government and the money was deposited in a bank...
At my age 25 before my grandma died of cancer... she told me about the abandoned property with the Original proof of ownership document .."

I only was wondering when the request for money would arrive. it happened the next day.
Quote:
are you there??please i need your help! I've been in a big trouble here in Nigeria since Thursday and I'm stuck and unable to go to the airport.... I've got myself in a big mess in the hotel i stay here in Nigeria and my passport with my traveling document has been seized by the management because i overstayed for 2weeks in the hotel and I'm unable to pay for the service.... Meanwhile, i have already persuaded the hotel management last 2 weeks that I'm exhausted and wouldn't be able to pay for my overstay

If I would "loan" her the money she would be able to return once back in the country and promissed we could go from airport right to her apartment. Now I am thinking, hey, lady! hold your horses, but I realized that "she" planted all the seeds for a scam, which I want to play along.
It is saturday and I respond:
Quote:
Since all offices are closed today, and there is no foreign currency market until monday, we will have to be patient a bit.
I am sure the hotel management will understand, and give you a couple of days.
Answer:
Quote:

Honey thank you so much in Anticipation for wanting to help me out of this mess....God bless you I'm so grateful..
I've been wondering all day long on how to solve this problem to come back home but God sent you to come and open a way for me where there is no way....
thank you so much...i appreciate a million times..
Don't worry i will refund the money back to you as soon as i get home and i will never forget you for your kindness...

Here I can't avoid the temptation of some mockery:
Quote:
When you'll be here we will have time enough for refund, since i see you love me.
Our future looks bright, and hopefully we will march together hand by hand towards the sunset.

My answer evoques a series of love declarations, we will be together for ever, blahblahblah.
Next morning I send a nervous e-mail:
Quote:
Ah!!! what a day, one of those you wish never happen.
In the morning i had an invasion of a taxes task force in my businesss, and from there to my home. They seized my computers and business books, closed my bank accounts and took me for several hours of interrogation in their offices. I came home very exhausted and nervous in the afternoon, and had almost a nervous breakdown. They acused me of not declaring some earnings and properties, which is stupid since I don't posess what they think I have.
The situation is that by now, at least until my lawyer will succeed in an intervention, I have no access to my funds.
Nevertheless I managed to ask a friend to lend me some money, and I went to look for a Western Union office, knowing the situation you are in, and how important it is for you. It seems that the nearest office is far from my home, so I managed to go to a Moneygram place. I had to declare that the money is not for a variety of purposes and that i know the person who is receiving the money. I laughed to myself, of course I know the person, you touched my heart so deeply, as i would have been knowing you from ever.
and then:
Quote:
i guess you need the number of the transfer. Ok, it is xxxxxxxx. Please let me know immediately that all is ok, and that you are already on your way back. Please send me your flight details as soon as you have them, since i will go to the airport to look for you.

For which I got the answer from "Chloe":
Quote:
this means you've a very kind heart...i love you so much ...i can't wait to come back home to be in your arms...But honey...time here is 10:00pm and i recieve your message late so iwon't be able to pick up the money until tomorrow at 8:00am...so now i've to pay for one more night in the hotel till tomorrowwhen i'll be able to get the money..Ok..honey... as soon as i book flight at the airport i will send youmy flight details so as to know what time you will need to pick meup...

Next morning "she" writes:
Quote:
honey there is a problem!i can't recieve the money you sent to me...the banker said the reference number is invalid...so they implore me to get back to you to confirm the numbers with a shown receipt...so honey please try to send me the receipt of the transaction of themoney you sent so i can show it to them...please hurry up..I'm seen like a fool here to the bankers and they'reembarrassing me...please send me the receipt asap..i'm stranded here in the bank

I liked a lot the part of the fool, and decided to play a bit longer. I gave a new transfer number, very close to the one before:
Quote:
I am so so so so sorry
I see now the typing mistake, xxzzxxxx is the correct number. I must have typed it wrong, due to my nerves of yesterday events.
I am sorry I cannot send you the receipt, I throwed it away, because i cannot keep such things.
I am afraid that somebody else could see it. In my delicate situation that would have been a big problem.
Answer:
Quote:
Ooh Shit...that's a quite Big mistake you made cuz i fooled myselftoday in the bank...

I liked this part! But then, immediately "Chloe":
Quote:
But honey i'm a bit confuse.....how did you see the typing mistakeafter you have disposed the receipt???please i want to be sure of thisso i won't go to fool myself again in the bank...please tell me how you confirmed this to be correct after you'vedisposed the receipt????

Ohoh, what am I going to say now?? I improvised:
Quote:
I copied the number to a piece of paper
But to create more reliability i had to add:
Quote:
I detect a slight tone of anger and misstrust.
Am I wrong?
It makes it difficult to start a relationship when one of the parties does not fully trust the other.
Maybe you are interested more in my money than in me?
I am starting to be suspicious.
Have I sent my money, that I got after a lot of hard work and sweat, to a person that does not deserve it?

Yesterday morning I got the answer:
Quote:
honey don't get me wrong...why do you have to take it personal to thisextreme???ofcourse i trust you and believe in your words...i'm apositive and optimistic lady.... i do believe in people because ibelieve in myself.....I only asked you the question to confirm if you copied the rightreference number without any mistake again...I'm never interested in your money either Julio...if not because of mypresent predicament i won't have ask you to help me.....all i wantfrom you is to give me a place in your heart...

And shortly after another apologethic message from "Chloe":
Quote:
Ofcourse i trust you and believe in you....if i do not trust you iwouldn't tend to welcome you to my house or give my heart to youwithout getting to know you better...

Some hours later, another one:
Quote:
where are you???The refrence number you gave is Invalid again....now i'm in a bigproblem in the hotel cuz they thought i'm playing pranks...what is going on there Julio....i don't understand this anymore

At night I answered:
Quote:
Impossible, it can't be!!
have you tried Jxxx Mxxxxxx (my supposed name) a bit different than originally)? sometimes they may change the name a bit, it happened in the past.
anyway, first thing tomorrow morning I will check again with the office of Money Gram.
I will make a lot of noise there, i don't need this type of problems now...

This morning early the following message from "Chloe" was waiting for me:
Quote:
...the issue is getting more complicated here for me cuz thehotel is about to hang my neck to a dead hit...i have stayed for 3more days and they don't believe any words from meanymore...they thought i'm trying to play pranks..please ...go to Moneygram to get back your money and go send itthrough westernunion cuz i can't even imagine to go back to theMoneygram cuz they were rude to me this last time...or if you want to send through moneygram...please send me a scan ofthe receipt so i can show to them..thanks..

Here I got tired of laughing every time I got a message and decided to put an end to it:
Quote:
Oh, "Chloe", what a mess!
I inquired at Money Gram. It seems they sent the money to a Chloe Anderson in Mackay, Australia, since she has or had same e-mail address.
Now, to receive the money back I had to give a different password and code.
It is Southern Brook.
Ciao, and try next time not to scam a scammer.
It was a pleasure and a good laugh...

Just to explain: Southern Brook is a porn star from whom the picture Chloe sent to me was taken. Thanks to this site and theit great advise I could trace the picture.
Since this morning and until now there is a big silence. Somebody got the hint.

I must believe Lad on the other side has either:
- a short memory, or
- doesn't read mails, or
- doesn't understand a hint, or
- is trying to confuse me, or
- any other possibility on your minds
because i found this in my mailbox this morning
Quote:
Honey I got the details now..I'm going now to the bank with one of the hotel staff to get the money..and immediately I pay off the debt I will rush to the airport to catch my flight..please honey keep in touch for my flight details so you could know the time to pick me up..can't wait to come home

Or the most probable he hit the "send" key again on an older version of our correspondence. Either way i was thinking before I got it that I rather miss our correspondence, it was such a fun!...

Good Job! The one piece of advice I'll offer is to never identify yourself as a baiter, and never point out something they did that failed to fool you. (Ok, that's two things. Smile ) The first (never identify yourself as a baiter) will give you the opportunity to pick things up later if you want. And, even if you don't want to continue, it leaves them guessing. It's best IMHO to just walk away from a lad if you don't want to continue. The second item (pointing out that something they did failed to fool you) can help to educate them and improve their scamming skills. There are exceptions of course, if the lad sends you two pictures of "herself" that are clearly not the same person, then the lad must be slapped! Very Happy

This is great! I love she said she made a fool of herself! I imagine (or would like to imagine) that everyone in western knows that they got played by a baiter!

to Lou:
Of course you are right, and your advise is being taken seriously. I was wondering myself if i did the right thing in letting know. I couldn't resist the temptation to smear facts in his face, now I know it wasn't the right attitude for the reasons you mentioned.

Hi Luis,

It's nothing to fret about really. There's another rule in baiting--when things don't go right (for either you or the lad) it's ALWAYS their fault. It's NEVER your fault. The lad's stupidity pushed you beyond your breaking point!

Bait safely my friend. Very Happy
