I already posted in the forum but did not introduce myself. I discovered 419 eaters quite while ago, and laughed a lot reading the letters.

And last week I started answering to 2 scammers. It's quite funny yet.

Ave to all.

I'm fairly new here (lurked all evening last night reading some interesting baits, really neat stuff), and I'm fairly new to baiting in general. I came across the whole thing from Wikipedia just pressing the random article, and I was intrigued by the process.

Anyways, it's nice to be here and hopefully I can begin my journey to becoming a scam baiter, and contribute to the community.

I would recommend signing up for a mentor, read Eater Uni, there is a lot of advice within those pages !

Main thing is to have Fun and waste the scammers time !!

Hello all! It all started reading an article about scambaiting, which directed me to this site. After reading a few of them, I decided that this sounds like alot of fun! So the time came for me to join up here. I am currently waiting for reply for two of my emails.

Hello all,

Have been reading this site for the last week and think its great, I will require help later on but for the moment I would like to know how you keep all you baits which are in early stages separate so you don't get confused. Is it just practise or do you use different email addresses.

Hopefully I will require a mentor soon and will sign up.

Hello,

There are several threads on Eater where this is discussed. Everyone has their own method from keeping it in their head to being very Virgoan (anal) and keep meticulous folders in WORD and using Gmail filters and labels. Everyone learns as they go.

When I first started I kept info etc in physical folders, and then developed my own system from there.

So, the best advice is to keep reading all the stickies, Eater U, all the guidelines at the start of each forum to get info about posting, guidelines for just about everything you can imagine.

If you cannot find something, let's us know and we will scratch our collective heads to figure out what thread would be most helpful.

Be sure to get yourself one of those handy, dandy mentors. Also think about going "gold" (Premium Membership) which gives you access to the Premium lounge and some handy, dandy baiting tools for Prem. Members.

thank you, where i am at the mo is just getting a feel of it and seeing what replies i get from scammers and how easy it is to get them off script. trying my own methods 1st then i'll need help. not sure which scammers to concentrate on yet i'll test waters 1st . ty

Hello new people. I know that sounds weird because I AM one of the new people. I just want yall to know that baiting is not as effortless as the experts make it seam. But with the help of a mentor and reading everything in the eater university and other stickies I have been having some success. Truly the stickies are a must.

Welcome new members. j h christ, you do not ever have to talk to a lad on the phone, if you do not want to, or have the means to get a "safe phone." I baited for over 2 1/2 years before I made my first phone call, and some of them even went on safaris, too. So, it can be done. Wink

After you get to know the lads and how they operate, talking to them on the phone is easier than you think, as you will know exactly what they are going to say to you.

My first phone call was scary.

I made myself a little outline of how I wanted the call to go. I had little outlines for a few more calls and now I just make them on the spur of the moment without my outline.

I do keep a list of the phone numbers with the lads I am currently baiting so when they call in on my Skype number I know who is calling and can answer appropriately. If I forgot to list it, I answer by saying "Yes?"

However, not every bait I have done has needed or warranted a phone call. So like Slap Happy said, you don't need to make calls.

My favorite calls are as Lisa D, Mgr of a local MG store, convincing the lad that my MG computer shows the money transfer went through -- must be a problem at their end.

I have this old account that just accumulates spam emails. I started replying to these people with some messages calling them scam artists and telling them to go away. I then heard about the term 419 (ironically from one of them). I was elated to find a site to talk to others about such topics. Anyway, glad to be here. Thanks!

Remember to bait safe, assuming you are leading on one or more of the scammers. You should probably refrain from telling any of them that you know what they are doing. That may prompt them to try making their spam email(s) more plausible. Play dumb, waste their time, and have fun!

Thanks for the advice. I have learned a lot just reading on here for a few hours. I have not been writing 'hate' mail back to the lads and have started my career as a baiter. I have few to practice on with that old email account. A mentor sounds like an interesting idea. Info on that would be great.

Hi

Having been on the floor laughing at the Bob Servant emails I dug a little more on google and rocked up here where the exploits of Shivermetimbers had me shaking my head in disbelief - especially the Dead Parrot sketch. Absolute genius!

I always wanted to be a superhero as a kid (who didn't?) and whilst I can't stop these guys I like to think I could annoy the hell out of them and take up their valuable time.

So any tips for getting started would be gratefully received. I already set up a scambaiting yahoo email account and posted messages on a couple of guestbooks so I will see what happens.

Read all the stickies, sign up for a mentor (see the post above yours).

You might also be better with a gmail account rather than yahoo as Gmail strips your IP address, so the lads can't tell where you are.

You can keep the Yahoo account, just use it as a catcher - sign it up on guestbooks and wait for the emails to flood in. Just pick the ones your interested in and send a reply from your Gmail account

I'll be honest and say that I've registered here just for the laughs for the time being. I've been following Dr. Mike et al.'s hilarious exploits in Abeche and Adre, and saw a "Kelvin" safari mentioned in a thread. In order to get access to this I had to register on the forums and, needless to say, I was not disappointed Very Happy

Watching these dramas unfold in real time is pretty damn cool!

As I suffer from workitis, I find myself stredded at work most of the time, but hopefully I'll get into baiting eventually.
