Seriously... WTF is going on in London at the moment? Evil or Very Mad

What the hell is wrong with people? I haven't been this glued to BBC News 24 since the 7/7 bombings and before that 9/11.

The sheer stupidity and recklessness of people is incredible.

I despair, I really do. Sad

Pretty scary when your auntie lives 3 streets away from where its happening in Hackney, watching a policeman getting knocked out by a brick wasnt a feat for the eyes

Back in 1985, there were riots in Tottenham due to the death of a black woman from a heart attack as the police raided her home. The riots cost a lot including the violent death of police officer Keith Blakelock. Various parts of the UK erupted into copycat rioting.

Apparently, the police didn't think that it would happen again. Or they forgot to learn from history... Confused

The Broadwater Farm riot (Tottenham 1985) was due to a woman having a stroke during a house search, not a heart attack. Smile

It was also off the back of the Brixton riot a week earlier, over the death of a woman getting shot during a search...

edit - Evening Mike, indeed too long. Been attending various "sheep competitions" every week since end of january. "Best Baa", "Cleanest hooves" and "Most attractive to a Welshman" amongst the awards on offer.

I've got so much respect for the fire-service and Met Police at the moment, hopefully they will catch the scum doing this

I thought it was a heart attack. It was a while ago and my memory is not what it was.

I remember Brixton and I think the woman survived but basically, it's the same shit and nothing seems to have been learned.

Oh really? thats a shame, i hope the international isnt cancelled, they're really the only matches i like to watch.

My aunt is currently trapped in london, her partner's mother is in south africa and the house is in chaos as she's seriously ill. They cannot leave the house to go and visit her (Often get last minute flights)

I think the following is going on:

Firstly there saying "Youths", I dont know, im not stupid enough to go into a riot to find out lol.

They have no idea how they will be kicked in the teeth by the courts, some of them are going to get life in prison.

I would advise anyone to stay home and keep well away from the areas affected for some time to come.

I dont know how many remember the great train robbery, 30yr sentences some of them got were unheard of, but it outraged the government of the day, then years later the riots in the 80's again people got seriously long sentences.

UK martial law looting:

And the only punishment:

Now thats HARSH. But its nothing compared to arson and looting under normal uk law.

He got a life sentence for arson, life sentence for looting, life sentence for violent disorder over a sustained period. (total 3 life sentences 10yrs to run consecutively) (Still in jail to 2036 no parole till 2036)

Now what these idiots causing all the trouble do not realise, is life is a long long time.

I can say with pride that our police are doing an amazing job
However, i do believe that the police should be able to retaliate better, they are doing nothing other than pushing them out, after seeing the riot policeman receiving a brick to the neck, the asshole who threw it should of been shot, they let him go.

Newsflash: The Riots have head to Camden!

Also, texts and Blackberry Messaging messages have been being sent across greater london, explaining where to go next, when to meet etc.

I've honestly been expecting this for at least a month (ironically the thought came into my head with an ad for that programme on British TV about the charles-diana wedding, that mentioned the 1980's riots, and i had a feeling from then it was gonna happen again this time round)

Glad i don't live anywhere near it to be honest, even with the latest that its sparking off in Birmingham, still a while off from there as well
