I've got a lad from Nigeria phoning me on a Flextel number (070...), but I'm thinking of getting him to phone some other numbers (though disusing my voice might be a problem). I just wondered if there is anything I can use that will cost him even more than ringing this number.

Hmm, I'm not familiar in detail with UK phone charges. I heard, however, from a friend in the UK that calling 087.... numbers is reported to be even more expensive than 070 numbers.
Two years ago, I was working on a lad (me acting as a US citizen - I had got me a K7 number).
The bait went over several weeks. During the bait, I mailed him that I was going on a short trip holiday but he could reach me at my hotel. Can't remember the hotel number but the international code I gave him was for Pitcairn Island: +649.
Then again: don't the internet cafes in Lagos and elsewhere offer VoIP? This makes gobal calling affordable, doesn't it? |

The art with lads is keeping them on the line for the maximum amount of time. Tell them that you cannot understand what they are saying due to their accent. Get them to repeat everything at least 3 times. Deliberately misunderstand what they are saying and repeat every salient point back to them to make sure you've got things clear in your head.

Many internet cafes do have VOIP. However IIRC most providers do not allow you to dial Flextel/dmclub numbers. Thats one of the reasons why i use them to much. if the lad wants to talk to me he's got to pay! |

Your 070 is as good as you'll get and them still be able to connect - go any higher and it just isn't re-billable so will not connect. Forwarding to a USA voicemail does not 'double-dip', only the first leg of the call is chargeable.
Your skill as a baiter is keeping them on the line - make out it is a bad line and that you can't hear and ask them to spell out everything. Make mistakes, keep them keen by asking which bit of the receipt is the MTCN, what is an MTCN, etc - then part way through the numbers (read out very slowly, asking for them to repeat it, etc, just cut the call and let them call you back - and start from scratch again... |
