Have been thinking of this recently but does someone have a insight of the connection between fraudsters and terrorism?

How much goes to sponsor terrorism for instance? I have heard some of this on the news but I can't believe it and I think most of the money is spent on luxurious materials like villas and expensive cars.

Besides the G0merb0yz, I don't think that the lads are organised, let alone running coordinated funding efforts for whatever cause.

If they were, I'd quit baiting too. I mean getting a lad frustrated is fun and all, but not so much as his mate with ak47 shows up at your doorstep...

No doubt there is some level of connection at some point. What organization would pass up what is a multi million dollar method of income? I'm sure some small amount of fraudsters are real nasties, we really can't tell, can we? From what I read alot of them are very smart guys (smarter than the average lad, anyway) too and could probably spot a baiter and drop them before the first "I am interested, tell me more" mail gets into their maibox.

That's why we bait safe. No connection to RL, using anonymizers, gmail (and a few others). If follow safe baiting suggestions, you won't have any problem keeping lads far away from you.

I suspect it is more of a 'shake down' than a systematic fund-raising effort on the part of the lads. I.E., if you are trying to run scams in certain parts of Nigeria, the local Al Queda affiliate will likely try to "tax" your efforts.

That makes even more sense, Bruin, considering it is well known in the media alone that intelligence bureaus around the world are "listening" for jihadis on every medium they might use. Remember, they almost got UBL by satellite phone in the early years, that's why they had to switch to physical couriers (which humans are the most unreliable method of comms you can get...).

I've seen articles discussing the connections over the years. My understanding is that there are definite connections between financial fraud, in general, and terrorism, but probably not direct connections between AFF/419 and terrorism.

As a pure guess, because like everyone else i dont actually know any terrorists lol, they would use any method they can think of to gain funds.

AFF/419 would probably be an inefficient method of funding, but i dont know if they have tried, criminals are usually by default stupid, so they probably do and have/are

The other difficulty would be identifing them, and in all probability it would be almost impossible without breaking some type of law.
