@bill2 Usually airport security is ok; however, it is the TSA that are a usually a bunch of dolts.
That being said, I don't know how he could have boarded the airplane. When I fly the person at the boarding door runs my boarding pass through a machine to check its viability.
I would tend to blame this one on Virgin Air staff as at the boarding doorway/ramp entrance is an airline staff person who should have been checking these things. Flying from NYC to LAX would not require a passport as once you are in country you can travel about.
TSA people have never checked any boarding pass of mine-- just my shoes and luggage and let my knitting needles go on board in the passenger cabin. (Interestingly enough, knitting needles and walking canes/sticks are permitted in the passenger cabin and offer a traveler some protection!)

However the only fact of this story that changed was they did not make the old woman remove for diaper. That part of the story was at "first blush" and later found to be inaccurate. |
