Why the hell would I want my entire life story stored in a silo and have to pick and choose who sees it and who doesn't ... it's worse than facebook because it will probably work even more efficiently. Humanity needs a certain amount of inefficiency in order to function decently. What happened to going and meeting your friends once in a while? Google can keep it.

Is this the damn thing that just came out today? I go into my gmail accounts today and see that my emails contacts are grouped off to the side. And I can join in chats and stuff with them.

How do I disable it?

^I think that might be a separate feature which may or may not have some sort of integration with google+.
Currently Google+ is only available for those who receive an invitation, so that is probably not it. (Weird, how Google makes me want an invitation even though I don't want to use Google+)

^^This thing showed up in all my gmail accounts today. And you're right--Google+ is invite only at this time.

Just checked and took a screen shot. It's people widget. I have to keep closing it....

EDIT: Found the answer to disable:

It pisses me off that Google adds stuff by default and I have to turn it off (especially in a dozen accounts) Sad

I'll add my thanks. I've been getting hammered with that damn popup today and it's been making me nuts. I hate it when sites add stuff I don't want or need and make it difficult to impossible to get rid of them. Mad
