Romance Lad, How to confirm hes a scammer?

Morning all.

Fear not this guy is definitely a scammer he pulled my email from a guest book as thats the only place i left it. I dont mind stringing him along for emails but i have something devious planned and i need to be 100% sure anyone got an idea of how i can change things around to get him to ask for some money or something so i can "nail" him good.

Here is the story so far. I have highlighted any funny phrases there are some classics pls enjoy.

So at this point i decided that a tattoo was the way to go as he has already said he would be willing. Spent a few hours trying to work on an excellent L33t tattoo but my Allias name dosent really work to well so i dreamed up a new charcter her name is Aiter (shes from sweden) I guess you can see where this is going Razz

Haha i see you like my friend her name is Aiter she is from Sweden also we have a unusual relationship i dont know if you can understand but sometimes when a woman is looking for a man she has certain needs that have to be forfilled. So thats the plan. I am incorporating the iamb into everything so it becomes our word. Hopefully when i ask for both our names and our word on the tat it should come up M.ary Doe iamb Aite.r. (minus the .'s of course.

Anyway there are a dozen or so msg after this and a few explicit phone calls and a lengthy yahoo msg that i can post if people are interested but i think he is ripe now and i think its time for the tattoo.

But before i ask for it i just want to make sure 100% hes a scammer as i said he never actually asked for money its a slim to nill chance that he was actually just looking for email address cos he is looking for a partner and i want to make 100% sure.

Does anyone have an idea how to check?

Pulling your address from a guestbook is not evidence that he is a scammer.

Simply asking for money is also not proof he is a scammer. He could be a beggar (which we don't bait).

African romance scammers will do one or more (usually more than one) of the following:
-Claim to be from somewhere other than Africa, often the home country of their target. This man is openly acknowledging he is African.
-Use photos of someone else--a model, a soldier, a porn actress, etc. There is no suggestion this has been the case.
-Claim they are coming to visit you, and then hit you up for money in order to see you. This guy has actually said he wants you to come to see him, so he's not setting up for that series of requests.
-Offer you a future with lots of money (e.g. inheritance from daddy, big military pension, his big bank account). From what you have posted, this guy isn't making any extravagant claims about his wealth.

He probably did recognize the word "mummy" as "sugar mummy" is a standard term in many African countries. Many African men are quite open about the fact that they are looking for one: http://www.metabot.ru/forum?open=1292087911_11438&profile=en So when you used the term, you (inadvertently) suggested that you are a sugar mummy, and that you are fine with that. Again, NOT baitable. We are not the moral police--even if we don't agree with gold-diggers and people looking for a free ride, if they aren't hiding who they are, they are not baitable.

If the guy were a scammer, he wouldn't be a very successful one. With so many successful scammers out there pulling thousands of dollars from innocent men and women, and a limited pool of baiters, there is really no reason to bait this type either way.

You could say the same about Yellow Pages then, and everyone else who finds my email somehow to send me spam.

Ohh trust me this one is good. A few more email accounts and we get the whole story. Seems like a pretty long con but its coming. Watch this space!

You're missing the point.

He most likely will ask for money. Asking for money does NOT automatically make him fair game. Scammers pretend to be something they are not, and promise futures that they know could not possibly happen (because they aren't the person they pretend to be and/or don't have the money they claim to have, and they aren't jumping on a plane to meet their beloved.) Most of their money requests are for blatantly false reasons (accidents that didn't happen, gift or emergency for a nonexistent child, bta that only exists in the scammer's imagination, fake packages, nonexistent military fees, etc.)

Gold-diggers and Romeos don't pretend to be someone they are not (yes, they may pretend to be faithful when they aren't but we aren't the morality police). They very likely are looking for a woman to support them, and they may be corresponding with other women trying to find one who will.
Often they don't hide their desire for money and a way out. But they may very
well be prepared to marry any woman they can hook as a way to get out of their current situation / move up in the world. We may not like their behavior, but we don't bait them, any more than we would bait young, attractive women who just happen to spend their time with much older, wealthy men. While we may find some of their behaviors morally reprehensible, they are not illegal and not baitable. The same is true for beggars.

Unless you have absolute proof that this guy is running scams or clear evidence that he is substantially lying (and by that I mean things like fictional fees that clearly don't exist, not things like "he can't really need money for food because he can afford the internet") then he is not baitable.

Beggar: Asks for money and tells you his/her intentions upfront.
Scammer: Asks for money in a deceitful way in which they also promise you money in return and never follow through with it.

So to add one what Dorothy was saying: If they are asking for money and are semi-genuine about it, DO NOT bait and drop them and move on, even if the IP is Nigeria, etc.

Hi all,

It's been awhile since I was last on here-I haven't had too much of a problem with scammers until now. I have to warn everybody about this guy. I met him on Gayromeo.com, his name is George Eristavi and his handle is amGivi. He's from Sumy, Ukraine, and he had an interest in me. So I did a little research before I replied back to him about scammers from the Ukraine-there was nothing on the net about male scammers from there, but just female scammers. So I decided to give this good looking guy a try. Well, we had talked for a month, and I was ready to meet him until he sent me this email:

My one and only love and fate Dee!

You can hardly imagine how difficult it was for me to find a way
for us to be together. It is unbelievable how many complications
and obstacles occurred when I tried to find out how to become
yours. The Ukrainian legislation makes it really hard.

But you should be sure in me and my true wish to connect my heart
with your heart! This is the only reason I want to be with you,
Dee.

Of course, we don't need to be in hurry. We have time to get know
each other better. But as for me, I'm sure that one minute of real
meeting will bring us more happiness and satisfaction than years
of writing each other. And I am sure that with my qualification
I'll be able to earn good money in any country, so I do not worry
for my professional future. But our private life is important now!

Currently I have savings of 650 USD. Soon I'll get my vacation pay
of around 120 USD - it will make total 720 USD. I hope you could
send me the rest of 1270 USD, because total sum I need for trip
is 1990 USD. I had no idea how it could be possible, but now I
found it out finally.

In our country there is a company that assists with international
funding. It is called Western union and it is presented in bank
Aval here in Sumy. They have branches all over the world. The
only problem with money transfers from abroad is that Ukrainian
authorities take them as pure profit and extract 30 percent
taxation from every money transfer.

As it was explained me in their office: only several groups of the
Ukrainian citizens are not obliged to pay the profit tax. Those
groups are state-supported ones like veterans of WWII, people with
hard disability, single mothers with more then 2 kids, etc.

I do not belong to any group with tax privileges. This is very
bad, because in order to receive 1270 USD from you, you will need
to send me 1820 USD, and our state will cut off 550 USD - just
"for nothing", as taxation fee. I assume it is pure robbery! But
I can not change the Ukrainian legislation.

I had almost given up, and I really thought I am losing you, my
beloved Dee! It was terrible condition of my brain, soul,
and body. I became strongly depressed by this confusing fact. I
can not put you in confusing situation. To give 550 USD for the
state of Ukraine is nonsense - I can not afford to disturb you to
give out your money for our corrupted government!

Well, to make the long story short finally after visiting several
state authorities I found out that my stepfather Mikhail has also
the right to receive money from another country without any
taxation. They don't tell me it in the bank, because they don't
care. So I had to visit other official places to find it out that
the liquidators (disaster-remediation workers) of Chernobyl
disaster don't pay the tax when they get support from abroad.

Then I had to tell about you to my family, because I am not out
to them and they had no idea about my love to you until now. I
told them that I want to visit my very good caring and supporting
American friend Dee, who cares about me deeply and wants
to see me in America very much during my vacation this year. They
were surprise, but they gave me permission to do it. So my
stepfather will assist us, my beloved Dee! And this is
really great, because we'll save 550 USD of taxation! Please send
the necessary sum of 1270 USD via Western union to his name:

Isn't that sweet, and very scamming! As you can see, he contradicts himself quite often in the emails, and with every email that he sent me, he always had a picture with it. I even showed this to Gayromeo to prove that he was a scammer, and they did absolutely nothing about it! What's the point of reporting scammers if they won't do anything about it? It's clear that this guy is a faker, but yet Gayromeo seems to love it. Once again, his name is George Eristavi aka Givi, his handle on Gayromeo is amGivi, and his email address is [email protected]. Be very aware of this guy!
