Sending real money to a lad

Just curious.... Has anyone ever sent a ( tiny ! ) amount of cash to a lad to encourage them along?

For example, sending $5 towards a bus ticket if you are certain it will get you a safari, with the lad loosing much more than $5 trying to get home. Or maybe sending $1.60 instead of the lads expected $16,000 and blaming a dollar chop?

Obviously this has it's risks (duh!) and I don't think it's something I'd do at my level of baiting, but I'm curious if the pro's on here have ever done this. Question

It's not something we encourage anyone to do. The idea is that the lad spends his time and money. Not that you spend yours.

Scam-baiting should never cost a penny. If it does, you're not baiting - you're just another victim. No matter how you try to convince yourself otherwise.

To clarify what SOOI wrote, if you spend money that the scammer have use of you are a victim. But if you for an example are using phone when baiting that could cost you some money. Just as if you bought a premium membership at Eater. The difference is that you are not paying the scammer but paying for him to suffer.

I agree, I put $50 into skype at $10 at a time for quick chats to lads,
or if you are quick on skype, you can call a lot, hang up the split second he answers you hang up, and wont get charged!

But always make the lad spend his own cash!!

To send $1.60 that you mentioned to a lad in Nigeria by WU would cost you nearly $15 if sending from the US. Better to spend money elsewhere IMHO

I have spent money on stamps to sent them a damaged envelope with a postal note.

It will create a real person for your friend and things tend to get easier after that. He still will be disappointed though Evil or Very Mad

Edit: You don't have to put the right amount in stamps on it, it's okay if he has to pay for it too Laughing

why not printing ostmark?

as the german democratic republic doesn't exist anymore, it's legal to print your own money.

and the letter... don't use stamps at all. and no sender. the post has to deliver the letter. and has nice fees for the receiver Smile

Yes, whenever they demand "Send me money now" you can scan them money now Laughing

I´ve never seen GDR bills. Only some coins. But sending even that (money bills out of currency) might be not a good idea. A. Skinners "slit envelope idea" is nice though. I remember Roy Cropper sent one of such to Dan the lotto man once.

Some love scammers want to send YOU a snail mail letter. That´s when the Eater dropbox comes in handy.
