This is the nautical version of the tried and tested baiter instruction - run left.
For the newer members, the one piece of advice you are freely allowed to give to lads is - run left.
The Island Sky is the largest ship to have docked in Alderney since some time back in the mid to late 1800's. It's a mini-cruise liner and, on leaving harbour, had to execute a 120 degree turn to avoid all the sub-surface nasties lurking hereabouts. The little boat behind it is the harbour pilot who was busy getting out of the way in case 'run left' wasn't the best idea.
The following night, around 10pm I got this shot :
The ruin on the right is a Napoleonic era fort which is getting battered more and more each year. I try to get a photo from the same position each time I visit and use photoshop to see what bit has fallen into the sea since last time I visited.
