I got this in my catcher, is it a scam? I'd like to bait them

£100 could help 20 people access voluntary testing and counseling

In countries severely affected by HIV, fewer than one in 10 people with HIV know that they are infected. Voluntary counseling and testing is an important prevention tool, as well as opening up opportunities for treatment, care and support for people who test HIV positive. People who choose to take a test benefit from confidential lectures with a trained counselor, both before and after the test.
£500 could fund educational materials aimed at people most at risk of contracting HIV
In many parts of the world, it difficult to access comprehensive and accurate information and education on sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV, and how to prevent them. However, equipped with this essential information, people can learn about the steps they can take to protect themselves, protect their sexual partners and limit the further spread of HIV.

£1000 could provide essential food support for 10 people taking anti-retro viral treatment for one year
Someone taking ARV treatment should eat a balanced diet; this helps maintain health, and assists in absorbing some A RVs into the body. Also eating regularly is important, because some A RVs must be taken together with meals in order to be effective. Good nutrition can help to extend the period in which a person with HIV is well and able to work.

You are of course welcome to make a donation of any amount you choose – every penny will help our work. Please note that the Alliance must spend its funds in accordance with its mission and as efficiently and effectively as possible. Have you checked the headers? Where does it resolve to? I will look in my catcher accounts to see if I have such a letter.

Part of the Africa Global Initiatives is something President Clinton worked on.

Some people who have had relatives with cancer cannot bait them, personally I have a problem with HIV/AIDS related scams, having worked in an AIDS Vaccine Evaluation Unit but I will bait the bejabbers out of them. Wink

Edited: I found an HIV/AIDS one in my catcher account and when I checked it out I got a link to scamwarners. The scammers used Bill and Melinda Gate's name. This one resolved to Nigeria. Surprise! Surprise!

Jim, AOL email accounts don't resolve to anything definite sadly.

Was it addressed to "undisclosed recipients"?

I would think that a "Global Initiative" would have a website with a domain name and email accounts that reflect that domain name, rather than using a free email provider.

Seeing that is all I needed to know...

I would ask if abstinence is a cheaper and more effective means of preventing the spread of HIV.

Would it be possible that a lad "copped" the language from the website and added his own aol address? I did not see any email address on that site; if you wish to contact them you just fill out the form and send directly.

Of course, I could be wrong but I am just thinking the language may have been stolen from the website and a lad added his own email addy since it showed up in Jim's catcher account.

These people are absolute scum. I got that in my catcher and posted it on scamwarners but I have no time to bait them. I really hope someone else does.
