Turned the TV on this morning getting ready for work and The Dark Crystal is on. A classic but the bad 80's puppet effects are to funny compared to what we are used to now a days as far as special effects.

Right now I'm watching Westworld, some of it's corny but I'd forgotten how good Yul Brynner was as a psycho killer robot, in the same outfit he wore in Magnificent 7.

That shapeshifting dude in Terminator 2 definitely owed him one - I saw that on a hotel TV in Egypt the other week.

Against all better judgement, I let a friend convince me to see "Jack and Jill" with them. It now holds the distinct honor of being only the second film I have ever walked out of partway through.

Just watched (night before last) the 1951 Alastaire Simm "Scrooge", absolutley head and chains above any recent version. Star spotting: Michael Hordern (The voice of Paddington Bear) as Marley, George Cole (Arthur Daily in Minder) and Simm himself the Spinsterley pragmatic Headmistress of Saint Trinnians in earlier incarnations of the franchise.

Still like the Muppet Christmas Carol for family entertainment value though. Smile

As Christmas Day is for sprawling in front of the TV after having gorged on crap food, I watched 3 movies last night.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, both of which I've seen before but which are ideal for this time of year. And The Thing. Better CGI (obviously) than it's predecessor (or sequel if you prefer) but not as intense as the first one. Still a pretty decent movie though.

Christmas Eve, I watched Bronson (again). The Yanks probably know it's lead actor - Tom Hardy - from Inception, Warrior and the upcoming new Batman movie, etc, but this is his best movie by far to date and where he really cut his teeth. Bronson revolves around a true story - that of Charles Bronson, the "most dangerous prisoner in the UK" and Hardy nails it. It wouldn't suprise me if he goes on to become the biggest UK actor in Hollywood.
Highly recommended if you haven't already seen it.

Just watched War Horse. Some beautiful country scenes (I have always wanted to visit the U.K and will someday Very Happy

), but I felt the movie was too make believe for adults and a little too strong for kids. Just my opinion though. 2.5 hrs long

I just watched paranormal 1-3 played as 1 giant movie complete with deleted scenes...I think I sprained my neck looking around at every little noise during the movie...

Watched Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. It was interesting, if you're into the weird and unusual. Someone HAD to be trippin when they thought up all the stuff in there.

Johnny Depp is a heck of an actor, isn't he? If you get a chance, look at his next Tim Burton film coming out. It's hard to recognize that it is even him.

'Drive' Was excellent, although a strange main character which really made the film.

'The Guard'. Irish comedy with Brenden whats-his-name in the lead role. One of the best comedies i've seen for a while.

Perfect Sense. People start to lose their senses starting with smell and then taste and so on. All a bit bleak.

I dont watch a great deal of movies, but i do like Quentin Tarantino's films (Jackie Brown being my favourite),
so i watched Inglourious Basterds on the T.V. last night. Not Q.T.'s greatest work, a plot with many holes in it,
but a thoroughly watchable film.
