First review.

Inglorious Bastards, 1/5 stars. I'm all for killing Nazis' but the movie sucked.

They speak French for most of the movie before I fell asleep. Brad Pitt, meh. I now have Netflix and am looking for some good stuff to watch, suggestions welcome.

^The old school one with Dustin Hoffman, or is there a remake I'm unaware of. Anne Bancroft was a great actress and beautiful woman.

@Pastor Frank With Netflix the world is your oyster. I love going through the lists on Netflix to put stuff into the Instant Queue and to order dvd's to be delivered.

Reconstruction (2003 Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Maria Bonnevie) Danish and Swedish with English subtitles. PF is going to hate it just for that reason.

I saw Unknown recently and it was very intense, and action-packed.

Inception was a mind twister, just watched it the other day I give it 3.5/5

I once screamed "ELAINE" as I drove by the church just as a wedding party was coming out. I don't think anyone got it. They all looked at me as if I was Pastor Frank.

Has anyone seen the movie Kite Runner? I'm half way done with the book and just found out that there was a movie.

My mom did, and practically ripped it to shreds as worthless compared to the book. Haven't read it nor watched the movie, so I can't disprove or confirm.

Today - "Memoirs of a Geisha". 4/5. Loosely adapted from a true masterpiece, but nonetheless wonderful.

I made the mistake of going to see The Eagle last week. It was horrible, one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It was full of bad accents, bad acting, and a variety of very corny "moral lessons," not to mention a weak plot and any number of gaping plot holes. 0.5/5.

I haven't seen a 3D movie since Jaws 3. I'm blind in one eye, so 3D has never worked for me. I recently saw Tron in 3D. The move itself was "okay", but the 3D technology has come a LONG way. It was amazing, actually. And Olivia Wilde looked verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry nice. Looking forward to seeing Battle LA. Just watched the Donald Trump roast.

Watched Skyline the other day. Effects were good, premise was interesting, plot had several large gaping holes in it.

Just two spring to mind:

1) The hero (?) and his girlfriend (?) between them off one or two of those flying squid things, more or less bare handed. They are not that tough. There are less of them than the population of any city they go to. And yet, against trained military ... they win. In three days.

2) The writers of the movie seemed to discount roughly 90% of the firepower that the US military is able to bring to bear.

A radio conversation that should have been held:
"Sir, the tactical nuke has struck the target."
"Is there any effect?"
"Yes sir, the target seems to be heavily staggered, although still mostly in one piece."
"Are there any of those flying things in the air?"
"No, they appear to have been destroyed."
"Then launch the second nuke. And prepare the third one."

The aliens did not have force field technology. They had self-repairing biotech. All good against bullets, but when part of your self repair system has been vapourised, there is a problem.

Also, what the hell were the fighters doing closing to knife-fighting range? They have missiles that can be launched at ten, twenty, fifty, a hundred miles out. Instead of having a squad of snipers, they should have had a squad protecting a soldier with a laser designator. Keep the beam on the big boy, and they could feed it as many high-impact cruise missiles as they want.

I understand that it was not meant to be a 'usual' movie (ie, where humans win because they're humans) but could they have made it more believable? "Their gear regenerates, so we lose." Yeah, that works. Not.

Why are all of Steinbecks' main characters so tragic?

Ayup.

I just watched Sin City for the first time in a while. I like it, oddly enough. The protagonists may be psychotic badasses, but they are psychotic badasses with morals. Marv may be able to rip a man's spine out, but he won't hurt a lady (unless punching her out will cause less injury than a lifetime of trauma due to seeing him dismember a real monster).

Recently rewatched:

Night of the living dead (1968)

Dawn of the dead (1978)

Day of the dead (1985)

Dawn of the dead (2005) remake - I loved the top three as a kid, and this is a very worthy modern remake. Unfortunately Romero has fallen from grace pretty hard on his newer 'dead' movies, I think he's been trying too hard to make a zombie movie for the modern video game generation.
