Hello All,

New to 419eater and Baiting. Looking for thoughts from a 419 Pro or "Master Baiter", if you will. Started my first bait a couple of weeks ago. Then I found this website. I was to send $4800 to Franklin Barnard in Louisville, Kentucky. I sent 25 cents by MoneyGram. Just for fun, I searched for Mr. Barnard on USA Search and Facebook. I couldn't believe it, I FOUND HIM! Address and all. I asked to be his Facebook friend. He accepted?!? Turns out he "says" he met a Nigerian guy (Joe Nduka) 10 years ago on the computer and started chatting. Joe Nduka is one of Barnard's friends, so I have his picture. (I also asked to friend Nduka, which he then immediately deleted his facebook page).Over the years Nduka starts telling Barnard of his scams and asks Barnard to start picking up money. Barnard allegedly refuses. Just after I send the 25 cents, Nduka emails Barnard and asks him to pick it up. Barnard tells me. I start sending some pretty nasty emails to the Nduka (cause now I have his real email!) telling him I know it is all B.S.. I also send the same nasty emails to the other "Diplomat" and "Banker" emails I have. Well, yesterday, Barnard forwards an email sent to him by Nduka saying to stop talking to me and that he has "Mafia" friends in Oregon who will now find me and "Gun him (me) down". He refers to Barnard as "Papa". If Barnard is really involved, not sure why he is actually sending me information from Nduka, so I think he is not. Good News!!! All the email addresses, facebook page, phone numbers, pictures, etc. I made up to do this scam on a scam, so I'm not worried. I feel confident that Franklin Barnard is real and so is Joe Nduka (although Nduka is in Nigeria) I've kept all emails and such. My question: Would you send this on to any police agency or Secret Service? Not sure if there are US or Nigeria agencies that follow up when you have real names and addresses. Thanks for yor feedback.

I am glad to see you used fake email addresses and phone numbers, etc. on the bait. That is very important as you don't want a lad to be able to trace you.

If you have all the emails and such, I would contact a moderator here right away and work with them. The moderator's names are in green. Contact one of them.

Unfortunately, about the most we can do is hamper and annoy them. Unless the scammers can be proven to be working from the US (and most are not) then US law enforcement can not touch them. A very few scammers are arrested each year, but to point at one scammer and say "I want him arrested" is a losing proposition.

Yeah, I thought so, just wondered if anyone knew of an agency in Nigeria that works on this stuff.

you could try and contact the Economic and Financial Crimes Comision (EFCC) in Nigeria

I'm afraid that truth be told, the police, the FBI, the secret service, and the EFCC in Nigeria don't have the resources to deal with every 419 scammer. I wish they did.

Ok, I'll just keep messing with this guy. The bad news for him is there are only like 2 guys in the world with his name, so he's REAL easy to track. He likes to join these facebook type websites and has new photos on each. I'll just keep going as long as it's fun. Worse case, I carry my new Kahr PM45 caliber side arm. He (or his Mafia friends) would not want to experience that. Thanks for your comments

It sounds like Franklin Barnard might be either a vic or a mule. If you have information on him, please give that information to a mod (like dwatina suggested) and they will take that information over to our sister site, ScamWarners. An experienced scamwarner will get in contact with him. Whether a vic or mule, chances are only someone used to dealing with either will be successful in handling the situation.

As far as the scammer in Nigeria, even if you have his real infos (which is always debatable), there is little that can be done to him except for baiting him. I have no idea why he would be talking about mafia friends as that isn't something common with lads at all, unless he means his Mafia Wars friends from FB. Laughing

Hey Dora, Yeah, I think you're right..Here is the last Facebook message he sent (I told him I was sending my Hells Angels friends after Joe in Nigeria and his Mafia friends in Portland). Not sure what indirectly losing $3600 means though. He's (I think) a 78 year old..the whole thing could be B.S., but, who knows..

I recommend you use the mask feature for the real name of the "friend" / victim. He probably doesn't need any unwanted attention.

Either that or ask a Moderator to move this thread behind a log in.

Welcome here, now you know why safe baiting involves NOT using real life information. Shocked
