Or a genuine but very annoying organisation, I signed up to this thing (no vital info given) out of interest and I naturally saw it for what it was, and have declined to proceed further.

Now I get this email in my box today:

Subject: "I'm Sorry"

It is probably a scam but not an advance fee fraud such as we deal with here. There is so much i could point out in terms of the "companys" website which smells real bad but there's no point. I don't think the site is a faker so it would be next to impossible to report for takedown.

The owner of the site is not baitable so, if there's no objections, I will move this to Misc Scams in a little while.

I've unsubscribed from their emails, i'm obviously not gonna bother now.

Edit: Well damn me.

These fake news articles make use of an IP reading script which tailors the “newspaper” to fit your home town, a shady trust building tactic which sometimes backfires on them when people from small towns realize that no such newspaper exists where they’re from.

I wondered why the BBC (!) of all things was reporting on it.

You should never "Unsubscribe" to this kind of scam/spam. Telling you to do so is just a means to find out if your email addy is working and monitored, so they can send MORE scamming spam.
