Ever wondered why lads pretend to be Chinese businessmen or citizens?

I was listening to a Nigerian DJ on radio 5live the other night, and he did a piece on the ever expanding relations between China and Nigeria. China has been investing billions in that country for years and look to become major players for the foreseeable future and squeeze out any competition. Mostly they have their eyes on oil from the Delta region, and the mineral wealth. But they also see it as a potentially huge market for their goods as it has the largest population in Africa.

Just doing a little of my own research I found this piece, about the Chinese government supplying motor cycles to help Lagos police patrol the city:

One project of note, is a brand new oil refinery and a whole city to support it. There's actually quite a lot of tension as, the Chinese are proving to be difficult, verging on impossible to corrupt. Which doesn't sit too well with the local nabobs. I just thought I'd mention this as there is plenty of baiting scope. If you pretend to be Chinese or in some way connected to the Chinese government or company, they know the Chinese are generally to be trusted, get things done and are loaded to boot.

If you do your own research on Sino + Niaja relations you are almost bound to find something useful. Wink

I've long sensed China was homing in on Africa and it will be interesting to see how that goes.
And yes, it's time to have a Chinese baiting character.

You can have a lot of fun with Chinese characters. I have one (Lung Tien Diao) who says doesn't speak any English but uses "translation software" to write to the lad with often amusing results as I end up sending the equivalent of a badly translated VCR manual.

Also not speaking English is a good excuse for not providing a Chinese phone number although I usually give them the phone number of "honourable number two cousin run Happy Dragon Take-Away on Old Kent Road London Town England!" (my 070 number) to talk to if they insist.

One other thing I forgot to mention. The report said the Nigerian government, are also setting up loads of special Chinese language schools as they see their future heading in that direction. They are massively over subscribed with potential students queuing for days to try and get a place.

Could be some scope for a lad language school run by baiters there. Possibility of university grants and degrees, visas, jobs etc. Very Happy
