This was our first big storm, had a couple of itty bitty snow flurries, then rain which melted all that, so I am quite happy with this storm.

Winter temps in the 70's, eehhh!! Been there done that. Used to live in So. Cal where people would bundle up in winter gear when temps dipped into the 40's!! Laughing

And if you do want to go to the snow, you have to put on tire chains!! Laughing

I like having 4 seasons!

@ Bart In the USVI, when the temps got to 70 the locals put on hats and mittens! Yep lived in Southern Calif too (Top Gunn at NAS Miramar) 40 degrees and we were freezin'

40 degrees now for me= Shorts weather!! Smile

The only person I really razz about this is my brother who still lives there (Ventura Co.) Well and a few friends there too. And anyone else who seems to have a stick up their butt. (nobody here though)

It's funny to listen to people get off a plane in Florida for vaction and complain that 39F is too cold!

Then I think, that would suck if it was my vacation. Razz

When I lived in the Land of the Chosen Frozen (Canada) we used to chuckle in August when people flying into Canada would get off the airplane wearing fur coats!

^^ Must be related to the local teens. Temp in the minus, snow and ice all round, but t shirts, strappy tops and short skirts are fine. God forbid they should be seen in, you know, like a coat or anything. That would be like totally not cool.

Mm, cause blue skin and frostbite is SO attractive. Rolling Eyes

Xmas eve I went over the North Yorkshire Moors, loaded up with presents, clothes and 2 cats. Of course I didnt find out the road was closed due to snow till I got off the Moors, by then I was a nervous wreck.

A 2 ton, RWD car is not the way to do it, but something clever called ESP (traction control) kept me going up the hills, as others slid to a halt (or into the ditch) and ABS kept me more or less safe going downhill. Though if anyone has been down Blue Bank near Whitby (1 in 5) imagine going down it , brake pedal all the way to the floor, with the road completely covered in snow. Shocked

At least by then Plod had stopped anyone coming up, just as well as I was crawling down in the middle of the road. Just as well I can do opposite lock steering, that part was almost fun.

Before PF says all Brits are a load of softies who should be hunted down for sport, Boxing Day, when it was well below freezing, I watched 70 people in fancy dress run into the North Sea (for charity) a Whitby tradition....

I'll be doing the same in February, when the sea had a whole winter to cool down. It's not for the faint of heart, but it's all worth it when you get out of the water. Always fun to walk in swimshorts over the beach when everyone else is wearing a fur coat and then casually asking your friends "did you remember to bring the sun lotion?" Laughing

Think we had the perfect xmas at last. For the last 10 years either Mrs has been working at some point, someone's been in hospital or just out of hospital, or there's been a death in the family. This year Mrs was off for the full 4 days, daughter was working/partying/staying at a friends. So we had the house to ourselves. Wonderful. Didn't go anywhere. Just ate & drank. Discovered the joys of goose (no smutty comments please) & goose curry. Back to work today unfortunately though Sad

Polar plunges are a national phenom in the U.S. just Google, "Polar Plunge" or "Polar Bear Club" you're bound to find something to help a charity (as they are always connected to one).

Should be 42F for Friday (16-17C, I think) then right back in to the freezer.

Here in Hollywood, it's a brisk 63 F, and clear..

(We did have a bit of rain this last month)

I left Las Vegas Friday, 6 am, and it was 25 F..

Too cold for me..

High 60's today with rain. Sort of humid so had to turn on the a/c to rid the house of humidity.
