As you said, ebay scams are quite common--people need to protect themselves when buying or selling anything online!
Unfortunately, when it comes to paypal, many of these accounts are not hacked--they are simply phished. A fake paypal email is randomly sent out, claiming that the person's account has been compromised or some other issue has come up. The email either requires a response that includes username and password, or a link to "paypal" which actually redirects to a fake paypal copy. When the user enters his/her username and password, the criminal either sells that information, or keeps it for his own scamming.
The important thing to know is that you should never put your login details for any website that has your financial or personal info (e.g. bank, paypal, ebay) into an email, and never login to any secure site from a link in an email. For example, if you receive an email supposedly from paypal, don't follow the link--instead just type paypal.com into your browser.
If everyone understood and followed these tips, the number of compromised accounts available to scammers would drop tremendously. |

So that happened to me but in a different way, the criminal made a well elaborated paypal email saying that he has sent payment through paypal, i always trusted paypal, also im kind new into selling, this was my 2nd auction, it was an Iphone 4, unfortunately for me, i lost my iphone since ebay told me that were problems with that auction and i never received a dime!.
Ebay must have new ways to prevent this, because the scammer made an account to do this!. This happened on october 1st, i reported it to Fraud.org and IC3 and thanks God that i found this site!. I will help everyone to shut and annoy Scammers. Also i found the Nigerian Police Headquarters website and mailed them to start an investigation!. I got all the emails received also with their IP´s.
