Using Outlook or similar to manage baiting accounts

I'm not very tech savvy, so I'm just trying to play it extra safe. Is it safe to use outlook or some other mail program to manage my baiting accounts or are they linked with your computer at all. Again, sorry for the ignorance but, I wouldn't know what to search for to learn about this if it bit me. Thank you for your time.

If you use Outlook or another email app from your computer, you IP address will be shown. While most lads don't check IP address, smart ones could. I wouldn't do it.

It's recommended that you use your web browser to do stuff (i.e., log-in into your gmail account or yahoo account).

Depending upon your browser, there are add-ons/plug-ins you can use. I have one for Gmail and I use it to check emails at set times and I simply click in the tool bar to open the box.

I'd go through the browser route.

And be sure to be using a baiter account (i.e., NO real-life info).

And so far as IPs and stuff--gmail accounts work best.

Cool beans. That's what I've been doing thus far with some gmail accounts. I'll look into the plugins for the browsers though. That sound like it could make life easier. Thank you for the info.

What browser are you using?

If Firefox, this is very nice (note: I have the Mac version):. The plug-in is Gmail manager.

I typically use chrome but I do have fox installed. I'll try out the plug-in and may just start using Firefox strictly as my baiting browser.

Here's what I do:

Google gives you IMAP access to your email accounts which means that you can use your local email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, ...) to look at your accounts without removing the messages from the server.

I have Thunderbird set up for an IMAP connection to all Google accounts that I have for easy checking of newly arrived email messages. It also allows me to easily save a message with full headers.
However, I never send anything to my lads using Thunderbird, because that would indeed put my IP address in the headers.
For sending email to the lads I simply use Google's web interface. Fortunately, Google has introduced the possibility to have multiple (up to three) Google accounts open simultaneously in one browser.

Use 'multiple inbox folder', tags, priority mail all at once.

I'm also using Captain Koek's method. It works very well, even for all my fastmail accounts !

ETA : I also installed Thunderbrowse, an add-on for Thunderbird. It lets you open websites from within thunderbird, handy to send web-based email !

It's in the labs, than you have new tab in options for that. Content of the new 'window' is basically search result so I use is:important or label:replied and stuff.. Smile
