Rebecca - not her real name - is another victim who was sweet-talked by a fake soldier named "Charlie". She will not reveal how much money she has lost but says she is in a lot of debt as a result of the scam.

She says she fears opening her mail, or answering her phone, as she doesn't know how to repay the money she borrowed to lend to Charlie.

Like fellow victim Jean, she said the men posing as soliders really know how to exploit the emotions of the women they hope to con.

All sounding a bit familiar.

I'm still new to this baiting, but have been aware of these scams for many years.

My question is - Is nothing sacred? I mean, is there nowhere these people won't go, to get a few quid?

They need a good baiting.

This group of forums is riddles with "Why we bait" threads. The lads will put a victim into such a spiral the only way some vics find to escape is the worst. Only the payday. That's all. It's damn near inhuman. The countless uses of picture of severely injured or dying children and adults used by lads. They deserve nothing short of the worst we can give them. Their karma needs balance Very Happy

Stories like this makes me fume. And sadly, no, there is nothing too low for the lads to stoop to. All they hear is the loud ringing of the cash register.

I've joined the facebook group (under my real profile) and have been plugging the warning sites and raising the recovery scam issue too.

I spent an hour yesterday warning friends of lovelads on myspace (god that site is sllllow!) and got some nice replies in thanks.

keep on keeping on I guess <sigh>

The same interview was broadcast on the World Today on the BBC World Service this morning
We can only hope that such publicity will raise awareness of this type of scam.
The scammers callous attitude makes me mad, especially that bit at the end of the phone call but nothing we haven't heard before around this board.
