How do you organize your email accounts that get tons of scammer emails?

Whenever I get a conversation going with a scammer I create a gmail label and keep all my conversations with that scammer under that label.

When checking the inbox I search the name in each message to see if I've talked to them already.

It can get really confusing. Any tips are welcome. Is there a way to sort emails in gmail by the email address?

First of all, if you're using a catcher account (i.e. you post its email address to guestbooks or otherwise spread it around to catch scam emails), use that account only for catching and not for baiting.
Use separate accounts for your characters with which you bait. Only use character's accounts for communicating with a lad and nothing else.
I've only been baiting for two weeks now, so my experience doesn't count for much, but so far, my character's accounts haven't received anything other than email from my lads related to an ongoing bait.
If you find an account overloaded with unrelated email, you can always create a new account and email address for your character and tell your lad(s) that the original account got hacked and please use the new email address from now on.

Again, I'm not very experienced so far, but I guess this is how I would do it.

That's exactly what I do Smile

My catcher account is my personal email account which gets spammed anyway - its a hotmail with junk mail filter set to "exclusive" Smile

Yeah it can get pretty hairy in the inbox!

Don't know if this will help you - this is how I organise mine (I use Gmail):

1. Catcher account. Used for nothing but catching spam emails.

2. Baiting account no. 1 - for one of my characters.
On the menu bar over the inbox there's a "labels" button and a "move to" button. On the left there's a list of folders, and I create a new one for each lad e.g. Mr XXX Nanny Job, UN Relief Fund, Dakar Orphanage" etc. When the emails come in I label each one. Only when I've replied to it do I move it into its own folder. That way I keep the inbox clear.

3. I currently have two other baiting accounts for two other baiting characters, which I organise in exactly the same way.

4. I have a dolla chopping account for my dolla chopping "lad" (i.e. me Twisted Evil

) on a different web based email.

5. In addition, for each bait I open up a word document, and paste each reply in as I go, each entry dated. That way I can have a quick look to see exactly where I am in the bait. Lad's replies are in black, mine in blue, and any of my dolla chopping is in red, so it's easy to follow when you're in a rush!

I've got a word file called Eater, into which I put folders for each bait. That's where I store the correspondence file for each, and things like pictures, documents and certificates etc that the lads have sent me, so again, it's all easy to find without tearing my hair out.

It sounds long winded but it's easy-peasy to keep on top of things. It probably took me much longer to type all that than to check through a couple of accounts and pull up a handful of bait stories Very Happy

I have one catcher account and six baiter accounts. I don't answer from my catcher account. It's just to catch.

In all my baiter accounts I have labels and organize that way.

On my desktop I have a folder called "Eater" and within that I have subfolders of my baiting characters. Within that I have subfolders of the baiter's lads. I have a word file in each one of those that has my character bio (name, age, address, occupation, etc.) as well as any IDs or important things the lad sends. I also put any fake MG or WU receipts I sent in there also). I usually put a copy of the original email in there as well.

On my desktop I keep a current text file of all my lad's phone numbers as I do call them and they call me. I have it set up pretty simple: baiter name in all CAPS with my characters listed under that. Next to each character is my lad's name and phone number.

I've had a few times when my Skype number rang and I didn't know who was calling. Now I have that file launch automatically when I boot up. If Skype rings I have that file to look at.

AND--I still have stuff in my eater folder that needs to be organized. Like tools I use, website links, etc.

I've found having a bio and folders on my desktop useful. I had one lad who was very smart. During a google chat he would suddenly ask me what my wife's name was again, or the name of my dog. Or my occupation. I think he was trying to see if I was a joker. Thankfully I all that info at my fingertips immediately.

I just treat them all harshly and let them sort it out.
I have separate accounts I use to disperse the lads, but they're all pretty much the same. If you need clarification, blame it on the lad and make them re-explain. This does three important things. One, it wastes their time. Two, it adds to their infuriation level. Three, it makes them think you're stupid; and if you're stupid then you'll probably be easy to squeeze for dough, and incapable of doing anything on purpose to annoy them.

I've baited from my catcher accounts and didn't find it extremely confusing. There were the lads I was writing to and then "the others". I do make use of the label features though, and it's probably easier to keep track of baiting one lad from each baiting account. I'm a bit like mr.scissorkick, though, living wild and crazy with my lads' info all disorganized. I've seemed to have gotten away with any mistakes it's caused.

I have filters set up so that mails are labeled as they come in. When you create a filter you can choose to apply it to already received emails that match the criteria.

@dwatina - I wish I was that organised Shocked

I use a few gmail accounts for baiting and don't bother with an exclusive catcher account.
Once a bait gets rolling I set up a label with the scammers name, location and scam type. Then I set a filter to direct incoming mail to the label and can instantly see if the lad has replied.
I usually run 4 to 5 baits this way from the same account without too much confusion on my part.
