Let me start out by saying that I'm a big fan of the site. I have been scammed in the past and it is good to know that you guys are out there doing what you are doing.

I've uprooted my life once I got scammed. Changed phone numbers, email addresses and moved out of town. Just a few days ago I got an obvious scam letter sent to my new email address. I will post the contence of the letter below. But I would feel better if someone would try and bait him. The letter seemed to be pretty well composed. The subject was: Your reliance required

"Stephen Chuan" <[email protected]>
First I must solicit your confidence in this transaction; this is by virtue of its nature as being utterly confidential and top secret. Though I know that a transaction of this magnitude will make any one apprehensive and worried, but I am assuring you that this is real and genuine.

My name is Stephen Chuan. I am an attorney with Clement & Dawn Associates Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I am 54 years of age and married with (3) lovely kids. I am writing to solicit your assistance in the transfer of One Million Three Hundred Thousand United States Dollars.

This fund belongs to my late client. My aim of writing to you is to seek your consent and present your humble self as trustee of my departed patron’s estate as the bank had issued me several notifications on my capacity as the departed Counsel to provide a lawful representative thereof.
Moreover, the fact that there is no surviving relative or trustee to inherit the estate of my departed patron which may spur the bank to classify the estate as unserviceable and officially no collectable after statutory time limit imposed by the law.

The bank since then, placed this amount on a suspense account without a beneficiary pending when one will come up for the claim. As his attonery, I cannot be directly connected to this money thus I am impelled to request for your assistance to receive this money into your bank account.

I intend to part 35% of this fund to you while 65% shall be for me. I do need to stress that there are practically no risk involved in this. Its going to be a bank-to-bank transfer. All I need from you is to stand as the original depositor of this fund.

If you accept this offer, I will appreciate your timely response.

Though I highly recommend that you exact vengeance personally on the lads. Grab a different account and go to it.

But there is still a lot of emotion wrapped up in this.

Was that the "reply-to" address, rather than the "from" one?

The primary spamming address ("From") is likely to get shut down if members of the public report it, but the actual more personal one ("Reply-to")is more likely to get through and still be active.

Sorry about you getting scammed. Scam e-mails will show up in any kind of e-mail regardless of safeguards. But remember they are all crap. Just put them in the surplus e-mail section for us to go after. Keep up with everything going on here, read up on stickies, and hopefully soon you can help us and do some baiting too. I understand it may still be difficult to do so now, but when your ready go for it.
