"Hospitals often run without running water - only available from a well and a generator only turned on when an operation like a C-section [Caesarean section] is carried out."

I cannot remember what tv programme it was on.
But it was about african midwifes learning to do surgery.

Because there are not enough doctors in that part of Africa.
They were teached to perform surgery's = in order to deliver babies.

I feel lucky I was born in Europe and not in that part of Africa.
People and especially woman have difficult lives.

Those midwifes do good work ... but it is just a little drop on a hot plate.
But at least it's a drop and maybe the start of a better life for woman in those regions.
