HOLLAND vs SPAIN

Hm .. interesting ...

I offcourse would wish Holland will win ... but you never know.
They are both in the finals and so are both very good teams.

And I am glad it is not agains the Germans.
Holland vs Germany is still very .... I do not know the English word for it ... but in dutch 'erg beladen' pfff ... well it all has to do with WO II.
We - new generations - do know that the new generation of Germans had nothing to do with it .. but they stay Germans.

Nothing changed in their DNA!
I am still waiting for my Grandpa's bike to be returned ... and Zandvoort at the Sea is really 'immer grade aus' Wink

(just joking)

Well Spain versus Holland is way better.

Funny thing is that war metaphors and allusions to it are forbidden here and you will see no one saying or writing something like that here, it is punishable by law actually Cool

Right now the biggest matter of debate is that the Germany team will not greet their fans at the return in Berlin Rolling Eyes

It could have gone either way and noone would argue.

So many close calls - the headers - the break aways - and on and on.

Still I honestly feel that the two best teams were in the final and for that it was a successful World Cup..

Sorry Klaas, but you cant argue with the power of the octopus. Anyone know the chances of getting 8 results (with only 2 possible outcomes) on a row? I think it might be 2 to the power of 8, I'm sure someone will know.

They should take Paul to Vegas, like Rainman. Wink

^^^As of 10.00, in Seville they were still celebrating.
The night-long festivities were incredible.
Even the conservative opposition refrained from saying that it was the Socialist gov't´s fault Spain scored so few goals.

Even though I'm not a fan of the game, I watched the whole championship match yesterday. Having some Dutch ancestry, I would rather have seen a Netherlands win but congrats to Spain.

My prediction that this would end in a scoreless tie and be settled by a shootout almost came true - almost two hours of play and one score. The rules of the game are weighted far too heavily in favor of the defense. Creating a better balance between the offense and the defense would make for a far more entertaining contest (and far fewer lame dramatics trying to draw a call from the referee).

Congrats to Spain, probably overall they deserved their victory.
Thought the Dutch got their tactics completely wrong by being
over physical and were lucky not to be down to 9 men by half-time.
Both teams made it very difficult for the referee, who i thought
handled the situation well by doing his best to keep it 11 vs 11.
It wasn't the best game you'll ever see, but then again W.C. finals
rarely are as there is so much at stake.

Oh well, only 1,425 days to go until the World Cup 2014 starts in Brasilia.
