Why wasn't the final goal by the USA not called offside? I don't normally follow soccer ("football"), but from observational data when the USA kicks it into the net it is supposed to be disallowed, right? Confused

In all seriousness I'm glad the USA scored at the end to move on because it would be a tough pill to swallow going home 0-0-3 in group play when they should have moved on with a 2-0-1 record.

If Ghana doesn't get into the next round it's going to be a sad day in Ladland... Laughing

Watching Engerland escape doom and get through was nerve racking. I and most of the country downed tools and opened a can or two.

Luckily they played like a different team, with confident passing and pace.

I did think, when I watched them play Algeria, 'We may as well pack up and go home - heaven help them if they play Argentina, they'd use our players to make an elaborate bong for their manager'.

I was switching back and forth between both games. For half a moment it looked like the Slovenian team thought they were advancing. Then I flipped channels just in time to see the USA score.

I have been so caught up with the WC I just noticed that the NBA finals were over almost a week ago!

anyone watching the epic wimbledon match between John Isner and Nicalas Mahut?

59-59 final set almost 10 hours game time and they continue tommorrow Laughing

I thought Isner could collapse any minute but he kept on going

A better performance from England today, should have won by more
considering the chances they created. Deserved win also for the U.S.
although they left it very late. From the highlights i saw, looked like they
should have also won by more than one.

Bring on the Germans! Just hope it don't go to penalties otherwise
we're f*cked.

The holders, Italy just got knocked out by Slovakia, 3-2, in for the first time. Like France Italy ended up bottom of their group. David Pleat on BBC 5 Live just suggested Italy need an English manager. Smile

The streets of Engerland will be deserted on Sunday afternoon, as we try to beath the Germans. Again.

ETA: Those never ending tennisists just finished on their 3rd day, the last set went 70-68 to Isner (USA).

Hopefully the USA v. Ghana match goes something like my personal USA v. Ghana scambaiting matches.

Then not only will we beat them, they'll find themselves at the Lagos airport, waiting to pick Dempsey and Donovan up.

It turns out the USA unintentionally kicked us right in the Goolies by scoring that late goal and winning the group.

If Engerland beat Germany then we probably get the dubious pleasure of meeting Argentina next match. Shocked

Talk about doing it the hard way.

I thought the idea was all the best sides knock each other out before we play the winner. On the other hand, the Germans feel the same, so at least someone sees us as a threat. It is part of our makeup that most of the country sees our team as rubbish / doomed, but hey, we're still in i!
