It's probably not as big a deal as it feels like, but I'm so happy about it I have to tell everyone.

Not only did I manage to talk on the phone with a lad for the very first time (prepaid phone I had laying around that I ended up never needing. Why not put it to use?), I convinced him to make me ridiculous documents and mail them to me to present to my bank. (I made up crazy requirements my bank needs to accept the $50 million he's supposedly wiring me. I didn't make fake forms, I just told him what to write, so we'll see how creative he is about this. I seriously wanted to tell him to trace his hand and make a hand turkey as part of the requirements, but I don't think I can pull that off. I did insist he have official letterhead, though.)

I'm getting a trophy! I think. He's asked for my address to forward them to me. He strangely hasn't even mentioned me sending him money yet. I'm just hoping he doesn't say, "Before I can send you these documents, I need $750 for a processing fee."

But I'm very excited about this.

It is. I'm going to be using one of the Dropboxes premium members have access to. Paranoid about the lads figuring out who I really am, so I'm real cautious. Despite the fact the prepaid can't be traced to me, I still get nervous using it, for instance. I probably won't be taking many calls from lads on it.

Nice work, dralasite! If he demands money before sending the documents, stand your ground. Tell him he will be paid when everything is in order and not before.

Congrats dralasite, it IS a milestone. smart thinking, I used a prepaid
calling card and made my very 1st paranoid call from a payphone.

The phone calls get easier as time goes on. There is a thrill as with any risky behavior, sky-diving, bungie-jumping, calling Laddos on the phone.

Congratulations on taking the big step!

I love taking calls from my lads (I almost never call them - if they want to talk to me they can pay for it). It sort of reinforces that you're for real - as if their talking to you ensures you're not some kinda joker Wink

Another suggestion: Find some random lad numbers in the Surplus section and give them a 2 AM wake-up call - order a pizza, ask them if they're satisfied with their phone service, or just wish them a fantastic day! I'm sure they'll appreciate it.
