Basically, i decided to bait a scammer who added me on skype.

'i arrived accra ghana via refugee camp with 3 consignment boxes..'

He told me two boxes contained gold and the other contained money, and that i could have the crates of gold.

I eventually told him (after a few hours of chatting on skype) that i could not help him, but i have a very wealthy friend who lives in south africa, who owns houses all over the place, who would be able to help, and would have the time and the money to assist him in opening the 'consignment boxes'.

I also told him that all i wanted was help in return, and that he could have the crate of money AND one of the gold crates, and that my friend would have the other.

He then asked me what i wanted and i explained that i needed money because i have a drug dealing gang after me for money (i don't).

We established that he didn't have paypal, but when i pointed out the fact that he was speaking to me on skype that he must have some form of computer, therefore also a source of money.

It concludes that he has a friend with some money in western union.

£££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££!!!!!!!!!!!

IF i were to have money transferred to an account i set up, obviously im not going to give them any help, if anything, i would continue to milk it.

Would they be able to do ANYTHING???

Cos if not, i'm gonna pay off my student overdraft, by saying that my friends had been ripped off in the past for about £30,000 and that if they were to help, they would want to know that they could trust the person i'm 'helping' and that a transfer of funds would guarantee that i would cement their trust.

Many thanks,

AHands

Cash baiting is absolutely against the ethos and rules of 419 Eater, and is not even discussed. Non-negotiable, please drop all ideas of getting cash from your scammer - we maintain the moral high ground here. Sorry! Don't be surprised if a moderator comes along and locks the topic - we keep the right side of the law here and pride ourselves on it!

Sorry to bubble-burst man, but it is important for our credibility to keep our noses clean and the right side of the law, do things by the book, etc.

The last thing we'd want is for anyone to get caught up in something illegal, or even shady, and bring down the reputation of the excellent work of others - that, anc stealing money does kinda make enemies... Wink

Good luck paying off the student loans though...

Hi ahands.

Any money you receive is likely to be in the form of the scammer "flashing" your account - basically sending a fake transfer normally in the form of a counterfiet cheque or money order. Although the bank may not pick it up immediately and you may be able to draw on it, eventually the discrepancy will be discovered and not only will you have to pay the cash back, but you will also have a lot of explaining to do to the relevant authorities.

Your proposal could land you in serious hot water with the law so, believe me, you do not want to go through with it.

As manbiteslion has said, we do not discuss cash-baiting on this forum. I'm therefore locking this thread. If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to PM myself or another moderator.
