Anyone here with @hotmail or @live accounts might want to read this article from Windows Secrets website. Microsoft has changed their "permissions" settings, and you will have to login and reset most of your settings, if you want to keep certain things private and not shared with the world.
It took me almost an hour to go though it all.

I am sick of all the security issues hotmail has had over the years, the main reason I swapped to Gmail.

This is why I rarely even use my hotmail address these days, except for logging in to messenger. The E-mail side of the account is just a spam decoy to keep it away from my private only-for-trusted-friends E-mail account. The profile has pretty much all the permissions turned off, and I still have to go back and check them every so often, just to make sure that none of them have mysteriously turned themselves back on.
The same thing often happens with those links that let you opt out of having your address sold to "third parties" (read: spammers and scammers). Gotta check them every so often too, since they have an odd habit of turning themselves back on too...
Must be gremlins in the workings...
