There seem to be a lot of these turning up recently, arrowheads of various styles, hand axes etc, almost all supposedly originating from Nigeria. Granted that the late neolithic lasted a lot longer in parts of Africa, why should I believe some modern-day Nigerian flint knapper hasn't taking up making them in his back yard as a self-funding hobby?

Playing Devil's Advocate, I suspect that they can be imported to the UK and still sold for under a fiver is the best evidence they're genuine. Who would spend much time and effort (and pain, I've tried flint knapping) faking something for that?

I'm pretty sure eBay has a rule against selling prehistoric artifacts.

Not that they ever do anything when I report listings, of course.
