Three people arrested and jailed for 8 1/2 years. The only thing is, the British tax payer has to pay to keep these people locked up in a comfy prison with full healthcare, gyms, entertainment, food, etc etc
I think they should be sent back to Nigeria to serve there sentance in a nice 3x3ft hole in the ground.

8.5yrs lack of liberty, even if shortened to 5, is enough to dent your prospects and I'm sure deportation will await afterwards. Maybe they can even find a way to do some Lagos chokey too. If you're going to f*ck about with scamming anyone, make sure it isn't the tax office of any government, those guys are serious!

Yes they obviously tried for the 'big' one and failed miserably. Imagine leaving a trail of notes to your door. Just shows you, white collar crime isn't for t-shirt wearing fools Smile

I'm glad these guys aren't being sent back to Nigeria, is there any doubt what they would do with their superior English skills and knowledge of British society?

I know this sounds harsh, but the only way to combat this sort of activity is either life in prison or capital punishment. (I feel the same way about all the Americans currently making millions by defrauding Medicare and other government programs - hang them all.) Even if these guys are in jail for eight years they'll eventually return to Nigeria to live in their luxurious homes complete with laptops and Wi-Fi.

Actually, you can shorten that to 1 year.
The 8.5 years is what the 3 received between them.

The annoying thing is that these guys were here illegally. So not only did they take the piss sneaking into the UK in the first place, they then added insult to injury by trying to rob it's citizens.

They will be deported once they've finished their pathetic sentences.

BTW. Have a guess what nationality the 3 "corrupt HMRC officials" were.
