Hmm, they seem to be confusing 419 fraud with phishing scams on their info page there.
I always feel a bit cynical when the UK government introduce things like this though. Hope this one is really about taking down international fraud and not just another "Be a good citizen and report your neighbour for something" scheme. |

This has been in the offing for quite some time now because I had an invitation to send an employee to a seminar that they were holding.
The interesting thing is that a private company was organising this and charging £250 plus for a ticket.
It's taken a long time to get this off the ground, it started in late 2008 If I remember correctly. I still have slides from the seminar that were sent to me.
The only thing that stuck out for me was the credit card scamming etc.
My presentation slides had details on how they did it and copies of screen dumps. It was pretty interesting.
If anyone does wonder, no i don't work for the police or anything like that. The invitations were going out to a lot of institutions that get wrapped up in fighting off fraud, because they have to, that's how I got one. |
