In Reisterstown, MD we have had 2 blizzards in less than a week apart. To date, we have gotten over 75" of snow this winter. We are battling another 20" - 30"'er right now. My sister and I have declared that Maryland has shifted near Alaska without us knowing, and we have now become the state of Malaska. Pictures to come...........Ans btw, our normal snowfall for a winter, is 18" across 3 months. This is our 3rd over 20" snowfall and we still have 4 more weeks of winter left or so.

We have now gotten 79.5" of snow this winter. Wow, and it is still flurrying outside now, with wind gusts of up to 40mph. Driving conditions are really bad and most side streets have not seen a plow yet. The first storm was in December, the second was about 5 days ago, and my Mother who lives right down the street was not plowed out of the one that happened 5 days ago.

Thanks for the well wishes, it's just there is so much snow, there is nowhere to put it.

@Doc - I know your near me. how are you faring in all of this?

Thx Lotta, but I think this is awesome. Haven't had to go to work in 5 days now, grocery stores almost bare, gas stations running out of gas, I mean this is nuts but awesome at the same time. Us Marylanders panic at the threat of evena snow flurry, throw 2 blizzards at them, and wow people are going nuts. Had the children out to play today after the first part of the blizzard went away, and we had a blast outside. I will probably have off again tomorrow, but this is well worth it. I uploaded pics to my photobucket to try to capture the essence of the height of what is the ground, but pictures will never do it justice. I think it may have officially have stopped, need to step outside to take a look, but this is absolutly amazing. We told the kids that this is history in the making, because we will probably never have 2 blizzards in one snow season again, as well as not have 3 storms over 20" in one season again.

Yeah him and his brother had a blast in the snow! We are loving this. They will never have this again i am thinking so they need o enjoy it while it's here.

Global climate change is pretty serious, at least for us humans. Imagine the energy you have to pump into an entire PLANET to raise its temperature even one degree. Y'all are seeing the havoc such energy can add to local weather patterns.

Well,I know that I have 4 cars parked in front of my house,but right now all you can see is a little of the 1994 Blazer.The rest are indistinct lumps in the street or driveway.I'm pretty sure I had some bushes in my back yard,but couldn't swear to it right now.I've lived here for 44 years now,and this is the most snow I can remember having on the ground at one time.

@ Doc - I knew you were close to me. I haven't listened to the weather today to get exact totals for this winter season, but will listen later on this evening. You know we are supposed to get another 8" on Monday???? I mean WTF?!?! I just wanna go back to work lol......It's beautiful and we have been loving the state of panic the fellow Marylander's are in when this happens, but after being trapped inside for days now, I think I am going a little stir crazy. The box needs to be expanded, and I never thought I would be saying I need to go back to work. I finally go back on Saturday, but if we get more snow on Monday, that means aother possible work closing. And I love the snow, and everything else, and meant everything I said in my earlier postings, but I have cabin fever now, and need to GET OUT!!!!!!
Luckily, the roads are clear and we can go out and play, but I don't mean this to sound harsh, but I need to be away from my family for a few hours......lol

Another Marylander reporting in. Just because there's snow doesn't mean I get a free pass from work, which is unfortunate, as not only am I home all day, but I'm home AND working remotely. Booo.

It's melted a little today, and I was even able to get to the grocery store right down the street. Still sucks though. You're right about people here absolutely freaking out about it. Good times.

Last time I was in VA for winter (D.C. area), all they saw was 6 inches of snow and they could barely handle that. We should be dispatching plows and salt to this area now fraught with a natural disaster. I'll leave it at that without incurring the wrath of the green and red... Very Happy

I am sick, sick, sick of the snow. The kids have been off school for over two weeks now. We are promised they will go back on Monday, IF, and I repeat IF, we do not get the precip that is beginning to be forecasted for Sunday.

Understand, in our area if and when it snowed the kids always enjoyed it. They had to rush out to sled and build snowmen before the snow melted, usually before noon. I do not think the snow we have now will melt before April.

Yes, I am also suffering from cabin fever.

I don't want to seem to be ignoring grlnxtdr681's query about the location of the photo. I sent him a PM.

The family member that took the photo is beyond sick of the snow. At Christmas we met and he was stoic about enduring another gloomy period. I talked to him last night and did not exchange one word about the weather. He said he had the best day of his life and that his job was moving him to a sunny and warm location.
