This makes email scamming seem like the highest calling possible.
This is the first I've heard of this. Savages.

Australia had a few peacekeepers in Rawanda (perhaps somewhere else) when massacres were taking place in front of them. I saw a doco about it. They guys were totally traumatised and broken and left the ADF shortly afterwards.
It was against the rules of engagement to stop the bad guys - not that this would really have prevented anyone from intervening if they had the numbers and firepower. But there were only a couple of guys with SLR's ... if they had done anything then everyone would have died.
This sort of thing is so far beyond my understanding that I sometimes despair ... no wonder our lads are a bit shy of going on safari. Guess they really are at risk. |

The word Nigeria in print always catches my eye. Lagos is in the South
They just need to divide not unlike No. & So. Korea, Vietnam
North and South Nigeria. "Acting" pres. (true the real one is really ill)
Goodluck Jonathan. Yup, names are backwards. |

A friend of my family was ex-army (Australian) specialising in Bomb Disposal. (He learn't with the UK Army defusing gifts from the IRA)
When he went private he started his own business and did some work for the Rawandan Govt disposing of landmines. It was costing him $5,000 per day per person in insurance to work there because the rebels thought they were part of the local army and would take shots at them, and the local army would also take shots at them becuase they were upset that these guys were digging up all their landmines that they had so carefully buried.
It was so bad that he had to just give up and get out of Africa.
He then made a fortune cleaning up the Sydney Olympic Site. (ex-bombing range) |

I saw a program about a group of mercenaries (Executive Outcomes, I think) who cleaned up an African country with 600 men when the entire country's army could do nothing.
The rebels were going from village to village chopping people up with machetes. The mercenaries, unlike the army, chased them down and killed them, running them out of the country. Free elections were held and things were looking good.
Enter the UN who demanded that the new president fire the mercs and sent in thousands of peacekeepers. Soon the rebels were back in action. Hopeless. |
