Lad CC:d me a bunch of other victims

Got an initial check fraud spam email from a lad, which was CC'd to a dozen or so other addresses. I replied to all the addresses in the CC list, with:

Hi all,

In case you didn't already know, the email you recently got from "j@hn wi1l" comes from an internet scammer. Don't bother to reply to him or get involved with his scam- any check he sends you will be invalid, and you'll eventually be stung by it. See www.scamwarners.com for more info about this and many other forms of internet scam. Stay safe!

Was this a reasonable response? Should I take any other action?

This happens from time to time by lazy lads. Note that many of the email addresses are not active and will bounce. Most of the rest will be owned by people too savvy to fall for the scam. There may be a few in there will benefit from the warning, but they may also view your email as spam. Also, the lad may figure out you've done this and target your email box.

If this happens in the future, feel free to contact a Mod as we may be able to reference the lad and determine if he shows up elsewhere.

In any event, no harm done. If any victim or would-be victim does respond to you requesting additional information, please let one of us know.

Hrmm, never thought about that, I have seen an email once in a while where lad forgot to cc it, and I had all these other addresses. I will also try to shoot a warning next time I come across such an email.

I wouldn't give two shits if the lad figures it was me who warned them, by just bombing my catcher address or better yet giving me a death threat (so I can have one in my siggy), not much he can do about it.

^^ That happened to me 1 time once. And I wrote to the person to
warn them. They never did write back. Without feed-back you just
hope you did some good. More info. means more wary??

^^ I've had a couple as well. Some of the addresses did look like baiters trying to pick up a scam using a guestbook. The one that stuck in my head was Chris P Bacon @***

It's always good to warn people. Even if they weren't going to fall for it, it might bring more awareness.

Thanks for the feedback, all. I guess I should have been clear that this was a baiter account, so I don't mind getting found out by the lad & mailbombed. The only response I've gotten from the emails so far are from fellow baiters! (Hi Iamhenk)!

Edit: Oh, duh! I didn't even read the email addresses- several of them are obvious baiters- probably don't want to make them public here, but they're funny!
