Hello to all
I am new to the forum and hope you can help me.
I am in contact since about 2 months with a man from Ivory Coast, known through a dating site.
I saw some anomalies in what he said to me by my questions and he understood that I had doubts.
He finally admitted the truth, it was Cote d'Ivoire etc. ...
I know I have the time to stop the match but having established links I continued to talk.
He talks frequently with the web cam and asked me to come for a visit to Abidjan to meet.
I acknowledge that travel to Côte d'Ivoire does not displease me no question but that I should go without certainties.
I am aware in my heart that it's not that serious but on the other hand I'm like, "What If"
My request is to find information about that person so that I can:
either cease all communication with him, but as long as doubt remains in my mind, I can not!
or may be, and it is very unlikely to meet.

I'm sorry to give you the bad news, but I'm fairly certain it's a scammer. If you post up some info on him like name, early e-mails he sent, etc we can do some research but I don't really have doubts he is a scammer. I know it must sound harsh to you, but he was lieing to you all the time. The one time he 'admitted the truth' was because you had doubts, and he saw it as a way to make you trust him again. In reality his whole story is a lie. I STRONGLY advise you not to go to Abidjan, in the past some victims were abducted and murdered for their money. And even if it wasn't a scammer, he is still a stranger, you only know online, and he wants you to travel thousands of miles. That sounds truly suspicious.

So please, before you even decide to write him again, post his details, so we can do some research and convince you of his true intentions.

Can you post up some of the early emails he sent you? Preferably with the headers. (If you don't know how to get headers, you can find all info in this thread: (CLICK)) Don't forget to edit out your personal adress.

I have no email just the messenger conversations that I recorded in a folder.
He never sent a message in my mailbox
I have pictures he took with the web cam in our conversations.

He wants you to come there?? Has he asked you for money ? does he have a sad story for you, both parents dead, accident poisoned, violent death?? He's an orphan?? Just be very careful!! don't send him money or any thing, don't give him your home address. Please, the folks here can give you some really great advice, listen to them.. Take care

This seems to be the a trend i am running into no emails just chatting, If you can give some details i would be glad to offer my assitance if needed. I had scammers from Cote d'Ivoire please dont send money, please listen to above advice. they are great people who can help

I read the testimony, but there is nothing like that
it requires no money, he lives with his brothers (his parents are actually dead, but did not speak), no sad story, he would have done studies in communication and works freelance.
It would be a girl of 4 years and never been married.
What concerns me is that to stay he offered me I must pay for everything myself (living with his sister) he can receive me.
I know he is not honest and at the same time I doubt I would, if possible, be sure

Please do not be offended, but I consider what you are contemplating doing is both dangerous and risky.

Anyone can be anyone online, any age, any sex and from anywhere.

They may be jokers, they may be nice, they also may be very sinister and intend hurt and harm.

You have known this person for two months and are considering travelling and trusting him?

What proofs and assurances has he offered? What checks have you made?

Most romance scammers go awhile before they start asking for western unions...

I highly suspect, from my dealings with them, that there will be need for money to "prepare" for you...he may decide it would be better to get an apartment for your stay (which will require a year's lease), to buy a used car to get around with...he may be "laid off" work & need a little spending money...

You know he lied to you about his location - the man is a liar, it doesn't matter why. I don't know if he initially put up different pics on the website or not. If he gets on cam he may have used his real photo.

There are plenty of legitimate men on dating sites. You don't need to travel 1/2 way around the world to meet one suspect man.

Imagine, These people are correct, they know what they are talking about. This person will lure you along, he may not ask for funding right away, but eventually his mother,sister.brother, grannie, or he will get sick , break a leg, or some other such thing and and have to see a dr. or go to the hospital. They will have no insurance and they may DIE if you don't send $$$. Or there might be some other reason, school, fees ,groceries ect. they will want you to send$$$ What ever you do , do not go there to meet them, this is very dangerous!!!
