That could be a victim or a mule. Either way, you should send it along to Alan, following the instructions here.

Meanwhile, I removed her details to protect her privacy. I'll see if I can find someone to do some research and perhaps contact her.

I meant mule, I don't know why I put victim. I haven't done this in awhile. I don't mind sending the information to Alan, but I'm at work right now and only check in on things from time to time. I thought this was urgent enough that someone might be able to take the lead and get in contact with her sooner than I could when I get home from work.

I cant find a phone number for the woman, but I was able to find the address in the property records for Pima County, AZ. The property is owned by someone else, it appears she is renting it. I havent tried to find a phone number for the new people. If someone wants to be endeavourous I could give them the info and they might be able to call the property owner to get in touch with her.

Apologies if you already have, but as well as reporting the account to Alan, you should put this on scamwarners (www.scamwarners.com), as they tend to specialise with this thing more. I believe they have a group of people who actively find victim details and call them up.

@hoorah: Good for you for looking out for this person. Just to clarify, mules are often victims and not always willing accomplices in the fraud.

ScamWarners does have people who actively warn potential victims. If luckey has the possible victim's information he will make sure that it is passed over to ScamWarners. You can always send potential victim information you get to a moderator here and we'll make sure it's passed on.

Alright I sent the account info to Alan and I forwarded it to the administrator of scamwarners on the contactus tab on the front page.

I was able to get a phone number for the property owner, but as the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished. The community appears to be a 55+ area, and I've never had good luck explaining scams to seniors - they always somehow get it in their head that I'm a part of it.

I suppose I could call bank of America, but I'm sure I'd get the same treatment.

Me: "Someone has tried to convince me to donate money to a fake charity by using this account number XXXXXX...."

BOA: "So, you want to start a charity but want it to be a scam?"
