I have never seen this type of scam and I know I'm not smart enough to play it out correctly.

Below is the email he/she/it sent me and another interesting thing is when I hit the reply button the return email was this:

I am Engr Duke Bethel a computer scientist with central bank of Nigeria.I am 43 years old, just started work with C.B.N. I came across your file which was marked X and your released disk painted RED, I took time to study it and found out that you have paid VIRTUALLY all fees and certificate but the fund has not been release to you. The most annoying thing is that they cannot tell you the truths that on account will they ever release the fund to you; instead they let you spend money unnecessarily.

I do not intend to work here all the days of my life, I can release this fund to you if you can certify me of my security, and how I can run away from this Nigeria if I do this, because if I don't run away from this country after i made the transfer, I will be seriously be in trouble and my life will be in danger.

Please you may not understand it because you are not a Nigerian. The only thing I will need to release this fund is a special HARD DISK we call it HD500 GIG.

I will buy four of it, recopy your information, destroy the previous one, and punch the computer to reflect in your bank within 24 banking hours. I will clean up the tracer and destroy your file, after which I will run away from Nigeria to meet with you. If you are interested,

Hmm, I'm 99% sure I've come across exactly this text in an "ancient scam scripts" gallery. I just don't remember where that was. IIRC the original message was sent by fax, which says a lot about the age of the script. I'm eager to see where this is gonna lead. Have fun and do post updates!

Didn't have time to copy etc. this morning but this is what he got:

"Dear Engr Duke Bethel,

I am sick of paying money out to release these funds and I am down to my last £900,000 UK Euros Starling.
If you are truly genuine under the eyes of God himself, please tell me so.
I am willing to do whatever is needed to sort this problem out but only if I can trust you 109%.
If you are true to your word, then there isn a place for you in my home.
Please tell me what I need to do.

Ah, this is an ancient one from the prehistoric times with Mariam Abacha etc.
It's quite simple, the lad will ask you to pay for that "special" disc and then he can transfer that huge amount of money to you. If you care to look in the eater archives you'll find a completed bait with such a scam.

Somebody's closed the gmail account.
But the reply account is still open...

"My dear blessed Rev. Marylin.
It is so good to hear from you.
I have reserved the funds for you and the orphans.
I need you to supply us with a bank account that I can transfer the funds to your cause.

I will then get our financial secretary Fartina to transfer the funds as soon as we have the details from yourself. She is so good with handling bank accounts"
