I figured there wouldn't be a better place to ask Wink

I know some of you guys have some exceptional skills, and since I'm thinking of getting into it myself, I was wondering how you guys learned it at first.

What tutorials would you recommend, if you have any tips, and so on. I have some of the basics since I have used a program called GIMP before, but I realize that PS is a lot more powerful, and that's what I need.

I will be using it mostly for webdesign (and not passports or finger-adding) but any and all tips are welcome Wink

That is a good tutorial. There are many PS tutorials but the one linked above is entertaining so it keeps you interested.

Photoshop is kind of pricey if you just intent to tinker around with it. I have CS4 and I am happy with it. I don't know how it compares to Gimp since I never used it. I hear it's comparable.

Reprob8 added fingers and reducing foreheads using Paint. I'm sure that each trophy took him an hour to do. It might seem like a horrible waste of time, but getting a trophy is actually very difficult and it needs some sort of celebration. Peprob8 is not around anymore so someone had to step up. When I first started with Adobe Photoshop Limp Edition, each finger took me at least an hour. Instead of "Donnie, where the hell are you?" I would hear "Connie, WTF are you doing?" Now that I watched that video, it should go faster. Wink

@Ghost: Photoshop and GIMP is very similar, the only difference is really that Photoshop is much more powerful. Also, GIMP has a very easy interface and doesn't take much learning. I got a pretty good hang of it in less than a week. PS is possibly just as easy, but it takes some getting used to I guess.

@Connie: Paint is a lot more powerful than it is given credit for. Of course, you can't compare it to GIMP or PS, but you can do a lot of stuff like passports, and as you said, head-shrinking and finger adding. Some lads are really a sign of this as many seem to use Paint for their projects. Here's one that I got where he might be better of getting PS...
