I have a work laptop running Vista. I have set it so when I go to certain websites it automatically logs in for me - the Eater and my bank account being a couple!! I am likely to have to give it back soon and want to know if anyone can shed any light on how to make it stop. I have cleared the browser history etc but it still happens... Help!!!

Oh sorry, when I read it I thought you just meant the list of sites in your history, not the entire thing.

You need to delete your 'cookies'. They remember your site logins and stuff. Try that.

Nope, still doing it!! It's driving me crazy!!! Is it possible my (total wanker of an) IT guy has installed something on my laptop? To say I don't get on with him is something of an understatement...

Click on 'tools'. Then click "delete browsing history'. Check every box shown then click 'delete'.

This may take a few minutes. Should clear out everything. Then restart laptop and check. Should do it for you.

Sorry Tasty, have tried that and it doesn't do it.

I have figured out that I have an add on by Bioscript Inc called Credentials Manager. If I turn that off, hey presto no more auto login. But it I turn it back on again - it has stored the data and logs me back in, even though I have restarted the browser. Anyone know how to delete the saved data in this add on may HP be cursed forever????????

Have you tried the Inspector's suggestion? Make sure that when you are running CCleaner, you click off all the boxes for your browser. When you do visit a site with a log on, deselect the box that will have the system remember you.

Edit to add: I have no idea what CCleaner will do to Credentials Manager.
There's a tool to remove it though.

There's complete info on this web page for use of credentials manager. Near the end of the scroll box (under "Transcript") are directions for removing each entry. I'd do that first, then go to add-remove programs in the control panel and delete the program...that way you've got a better chance that the data is gone.

You tried checking if the laptop is storing your passwords?
I think its Tools, Options,Security, Custom level, then scroll to user authentication and see if automatic logon is ticked
