I retired from the UK Civil Service a few years ago. 1.1.2000 came and went with only one minor Y2K issue in my department.
Two or three years later we got a software upgrade from EDS. With a millennium bug. |

I did some Y2K work for a large concern and finished the required mods by mid November and assured the IT manager that everything would be ok and there was no need to worry. For some reason he decided to test out the system and proceeded to change the system date at which point he invalidated the software licence and brought the company to a total halt until a new licence could be obtained
Same IT manager also decided that he would be the first point of contact for any hardware faults and when someone reported their monitor was kerferkled he checked out connections etc. then contacted our maintenace suppliers who we had a 4 hour callout cover with, engineer turned up and turned up the brightness |
