Got an email saying I had won a Yahoo Prize?? Im thinking this is a scam, but just want to double check. Confused

It's a scam. There are no free lotteries that select the winners from email addresses.
You'll be asked to pay fees, taxes, etc before you can be sent the imaginary prize.

If you want to play with them then go right ahead. Anything goes except sending them money or RL info. Just send them rubbish mail,they'll write back. Wasting their time is what it's all about.
If you want someone else to give them the 419 waltz then please post the scammer's details in the surplus forum. Laughing

Rule of thumb: Anyone wanting to give you money for absolutely no reason is a scammer.

Or, as I like to say: If it sounds too good to be true, it's because it is.

No lottery in the world ever contacts winners by e-mail, that is the winners responcibility to do.
2cndThere is no random e-mail drawing
3rd US citizens are prohibited by federal law in participating in any foreign lottery
4th when you win 55 million in one week from the same lottery organization
in 5 different countries in the same week, you have either been scammed or are the luckiest person in the world
Lottery scam baiting in my experience is usually short, but at least you can get the lads to make a few trips to WU

If you can please post those emails including the email address it may just prevent somebody else from falling for it, the best place to post the scammer's emails is at www.scamwarners.com we have a section in teh forum specifically for lottery scams.

I should also point out that when you do deliberately play with scammers (or bait them as we call it) you should be doing it with completely false information, from an email address you have used for no other reasons.

Gmail is the prefered choice for baiters as it hides your IP for you, depending on where your IP points, you may need to keep that in mind, especially if baiting from work or University.
