Having your character name the same as your forum user name increases the chance that google helps them find you here, which would probably be bad for your characters credibility. It is also recommended to mask (leet or XXX out) first and last names (unless they are very common), fictitious company names , email addresses and 'unique typos':

Dear KXXXn or Dear Kee9an, K33gan, Keeg@n, etc.. or Dear (me)
