I have a lad who got dollar chopped by Mr now he wants me to travel from Edinburgh (My characters based there) to Cheetham Hill in Manchester (I live in North Cheetham Hill/South Prestwich) and he wants me to visit his associate in a shop there and pay £15,000 (it is a dump - I will grab a picture next time I'm there)

That's the tricky part. If you let the police know that you have been emailing this scammer and he's offered this address to pay cash, it can't hurt asking. Keep all the email evidence and see if you can get more information on this 'contact' near you. Phone numbers, description, why he's supposedly collecting this money. It's worth asking your lad for this lads email address so you can discuss the deal and get the evidence. If he makes claims and gives you a time and date to meet, with the intent in written email, he's an accessory.
You can remind the police that potentially this could open up more evidence to more victims.

It could be a nice big community policing win - proactive scambusting, national news stuff for the force, etc. Ask to have a chat with someone from your local CID, face to face with evidence if possible. |
