Damn! Why you shouldn't report scam emails..

My Rev. 1an, who has spent 2 months and countless hours of his time romancing my character, composing huge emails, searching for sappy love poems and finding 5 page passages of really sickening Fabio-type prose to send to his "darling" has had his account suspended. Crying or Very sad

I was just on the verge of getting a really nice photo with a sign saying "Yur@ Dyck, Ima Fool 4 U", plus introducing a 3rd party who would be competition for Yura's heart.

Anyone lurking - please don't report scammers to email providers. Getting their accounts shut down hurts them not at all.

The only one hurt by this is poor lovesick dumb Yura, who hopes the Rev.Fr. noted her email addy before he got the boot.

I can empathize. I once had this lad (who pretended to be a woman) who loved leaving me singing voicemails on demand. Then the account suddenly disappeared. Crying or Very sad

Its a shame if your bait is over when someone report a scammer emailaddress.

but about this "don't report a scammer, because he will set up a other email in minutes"

if a scammer not have your emailaddress before he lose his emailaccount, there is also a possibility that if there is a real victim he also lose him/her.

again i'm not thinking its a good thing to report those scammers, but this question popsup everytime i read this sort of messages

Don't forget that the lads keep regular telephonic communication with their real victims, so for them, it's as simply as making a call.

Furthermore, a lad can just as easily get new victims, but all of the time that would have been wasted on baiters is now lost.

With the exception of phone lads who use their e-mail accounts to "sell" imaginary goods, closing down addresses is never okay.

that's the answer i like to hear, i forgot about the phonething, because i mostly don't use it

again, i never think its a good thing to report, I just had that question popping up everytime, but not anymore now Wink

Because the lads use internet cafes and the machines are very prone to viruses they tend to keep their email correspondence scripts and address book stored on a USB stick, not on a computer so they can go anywhere insert their stick and be up and running very quickly, set up new free email accounts just as quickly and carry on as if nothing had happened. If they twig it's you closing them down and start making accusations then you might have a hard time of it.

I once so annoyed a lad by asking him why he kept changing his permanant and most private email address (as I kept closing down his previous ones with the providers connivence). He got through ten (not so easy to set up) accounts before he twigged it was me and moved on.

He said he was in the hospital with some health issues (and a suspended email account), but that didn't stop him from his ol' copy/paste job.

Yur@ is so excited and relieved to have her future husband back in her life but is wondering what on earth this means?

I just spent over 10 minutes carefully choosing my words for a US army captain who wants to ship 2 boxes full of 100 dollar bills out of iraq. Then it took gmail less than a second to tell me that that address does not exist. Sad

It was only my 3rd mail to him, but still... (The cash is real tho .. I've seen a photo of the boxes.)
Just sent a quick 'hey your other address doesnt work' to the From address of his initial mail, which was not the same as the Reply-to.
Let's hope he remembers me. I was very understanding and accommodating.

Do they close they own accounts, or do they generally only disappear when they get reported for scamming?

^^ It's most likely closed by someone who has been on the receiving end of his scam-mail.

If you do lose a lad because his account is closed, try Googling his format. You may get lucky and find another one of his addresses.

You can also try just Googling his name. I did this with my loverboy, and found Rev 1an was quite busy in the past with lotto scams!

Googling his full name along with any 'keyword' from the initial mail did not find anything. However, googling for the link to some article on the BBC site did. (The link he provided as proof of his story.) It turns out that he is almost an entire army all by himself: Capt. B4rry Gr055man, Sgt. B4rry Cr4wf0rd ( <- most prevalent ), Sgt. H3nry Sc0tt, Sgt. 4ndr3w Sm1th, Sgt. C0||in J0hn, Sgt. 1rvin Sh4wn, StSgt. 1rvin Br0wn, ...

Maybe he will find me again. Otherwise, meh. I don't want to put much effort into tracking him down. After all .. aren't they supposed to do the work, not me.
