I thought it might be useful to suggest bands that we like but might not be well-known to others. Dunno about you, but I'm always on the lookout for bands I haven't heard of before.

Here are my recommendations:

Genre: Metal

Dope
Trivium

Genre: Rock

Therapy?

If you're a junkie for 7 minute long guitar solos and 10-million-part vocal harmonies, then might I suggest the underrated sub-genre of European Power Metal. Try some Iron Savior, or perhaps a bit of Savage Circus, both with the great Piet Sielck.

Best band I have EVER seen is Great Big Sea.

I guess you'd describe them as Folk/Rock. A lot of traditional instruments along with ones normally found in a band. They absolutely love being on stage, and between songs will converse with the crowd and joke around.

Their live tracks/videos are far and away better than their recorded work so if you look them up on youtube or their website, make sure you check out their live stuff first.
