My lad can't tell the difference between German and Dutch?!

So my recent baiting character Ms. K4rl4 W0lff is a German character I got from the language learning game "Who is 0sc4r L4k3?" (I put the name in l33t because I'm using said character as one of my side characters).

Here was my email:

The 'Sprechen Sie Deutsch' might have confused him. I bet he lust looked down the list, saw 'Dutch' and thought it was the same. You can't really blame him for that, it's an easy mistake.

If he would use such a text in a real scam he could easily loose the victim. His (online-translator)Dutch is terrible Laughing

I wonder if the lad cannot think himself that using a free translator is a bad idea.

According to my wife, who lived in the Netherlands and speaks Dutch fluently, whomever wrote this letter is fluent in Dutch.

Dutch being my native tongue, I can tell it is VERY obvious it is translated online, and not from someone that speaks the language.

most of the time when they use a translator to translate to dutch, is when you speak dutch or know the language, its almost like the talk backwards Shocked

That is no way good dutch. Not from my side of the border, and neither from the other side of the only both-side-dutch speaking border in the world Wink

Ohhh... the opportunities for misunderstandings.. Razz

I especially like the bit where he has written 'sincerely' which is translated literally to something that you would never use in a dutch letter.. Razz

It's also seriously unreadable to any Dutch person not wishing to get a serious headache.

As a bonus, to any Dutch person who doesn't know English the letter will be even harder to read as they won't be able to deduce what the letter said before it was translated.

Ohhhhh she's from Friesland originally? That explains alot. Fries is a language on its own, really. If you didn't grow up there, you'll never be able to understand that gibberish they call dutch Laughing
