After a while we get a bit paranoid and when this arrived I was a bit concerned.

Please tell me if it is for real not a scammer trap.

Yes - we can't tell if it's a scam from looking at an e-mail address.

The consignment identified with the reference number SORxxxxxx is due to be despatched on 2009-08-18 to the delivery address below by the shipper 24/48 MULTIPLES by PARCELFORCE WORLDWIDE using the service Parcelforce 48.

It was thw words 'cyberstation' and 'neopost'

Then I googled parcel force and put in the number and it said parcel was at Glasgow and from Guensey to Glagow to south of England sounded funny?

I've just checked my trash folder and there are two scams doing the rounds purporting to be from parcel delivery companies. One is a 419 - very wordy and just trying to chop into an existing bait by offering a parcel containing a bankers draft.

The other one is a virus (or other malware)

The zip file contains an executable file.

I would guess that if the one you got was a virus, then the address they refer you to is a zip file. Don't open it, and if you do, don't open the file in it. If you have, then you've probably been infected.

If there are no attachments, then my guess is that it is a bona fide email.

Edit: I've just googled the first few words of your email, and there are multiple hits, for example: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6338&sid=2daff5ce7d0fa403088735f375d6575f

The wording appears to be what Parcelforce use. So unless the scammers are very careful, (some of the PayPal ones are,) I'd say it was a good one.
